Healing Journey: Through working with other widows, coaches, and engaging in grief and healing processes, we began to shift our perspective and reject the idea of living a life consumed by sadness. Rediscovering Self and Possibilities: Over time, we started to explore new possibilities and dreams, recognizing ourselves as different people and wanting to redefine our lives. Challenges and Setbacks: Despite progress, grief can still bring setbacks and moments of doubt, where it feels like taking steps forward only to be knocked back. I am going to put out a disclaimer for today's episode that the information I'm going to cover today. Comes from the grief recovery method. It comes from the grief recovery Institute.

Allison Hintz is 41 years old. She has four kids, 16, 14, and 10 year old twins. She lost her husband drew completely unexpectedly to a massive stroke. He had a stroke on December 7th and remained conscience until late that night when he went into a coma and never regained consciousness. He was officially declared brain dead.

December 9th, they had been married for 17 and a half years and together for almost 20 years. She never, ever thought she would be on a Widow podcast a year ago, and has learned so much about grief that she wants to help pass that on to others in a similar situation. She still struggles knowing that in just a 72 hour period, her entire life and world as she knew it is gone.

Jillian Gentile is from the Hudson Valley in upstate New York. She became a widow in 2020 when her husband contracted sepsis from an injury he sustained during his service in the U. S. Army. Eryn Zamora. Aaron is a 28 year old widow who lost her husband and person of four years, to a terrible form of cancer. He was age 29. He was healthy. Everything was, was great. And, , unfortunately at the incredibly young age of, of 29, he. Past and her story is one full of many ups and downs of really what was an emotional roller coaster. And this story was. Especially difficult for me at parts, I worked in health care as many of you may know for 20 years and I wasn't a nurse and I mostly was not on the clinical side, but I have a great appreciation and respect for what it takes to effectively work in health care.

I can't imagine what it takes to practice medicine, but I know that is no easy task. And while I have the most. Respect and appreciation and care for people that work in health care. I also recognize that sometimes the patient coordination experience or the patient communication experience isn't always the best.

And her story takes place over really a couple of months, being transferred to four different hospitals, struggling with many ups and downs of communication that went sideways and just some of her struggles. And so, while many of us have lost our spouses while they were in the hospital or while they were in the health care continuum at some point, it is very much a reality, some of the emotional struggles that widows and family members experience when communication is lost.

Doesn't happen, maybe the information isn't there, maybe the transfers don't happen as smoothly as they can, and maybe sometimes health care just doesn't go according to plan and you have very limited options. it is possible to embrace joy again.

This is Sue Peters from Highland, Indiana. Valentine's Day is the 3 year anniversary of losing her beloved husband, John. She thought losing him on this day of love would make it even harder to deal with since it would pop up every year on the day everyone else is celebrating their person. Thank goodness she was wrong! It ended up being such a blessing in disguise! Not only do hearts keep appearing in her life almost as special gifts to make her smile, but it also has helped her become aware of her own heart and how important it became to love herself 100% and to allow her heart to be healed after learning how to deal with her own broken and shattered heart! It has led her to write a book that will be published this year about how a dream to marry her heart changed her life! Sue has learned so much walking on this road of widowhood, being inspired and supported by so many widows sharing their own challenging stories from this Brave Widow Community and rising up to face the journey in so many new and positive ways! She has now found purpose in loving her own heart more deeply and in sharing with the hearts of others encouraging more connection and courage to keep stepping forward!
