The Cowboys finished the 2024 season with a 3-9 record and went winless in the Big 12, the first time that had happened in Gundy's career. The Financials: The firing comes despite Gundy's recently restructured contract, which he agreed to in the offseason to remain at Oklahoma State. The new deal included a buyout of $15 million if he was to be fired in the first three years, a sum the university is reportedly willing to pay to move in a new direction.
