I take photos, too! … with my phone… but I’m not claiming to be the best photographer ever.

I guess that’s why you always choose the photos I take for your profile pictures.

I’m not even using social media properly. But I’ll admit yours are better than mine. I never thought you were so into it. When did you start exactly?

To be honest, I didn’t use to be so into it. Around 5 years ago, I found my beautiful rollei 35mm from one of the boxes in the attic. It turned out it was from my uncle.

Hmm, It is one of those film cameras right?

Yeah. Since then, I’ve been trying to keep his legacy alive.

I’ve got some interesting stories for today. Since you’re “the greatest photographer of all times”, now I’m not so sure if you haven’t heard these stories before. I want you to enjoy them as much as our listeners. I’m curious what you’ve also got to tell us.

Even if I’ve heard them, it’s fine. I can talk about cameras and photos till morning. For today, I’ve got one story that will blow your mind, too.

Well, believe me you won’t need more because it has been puzzling even historians worldwide for years.

If it’s an unsolved mystery, maybe we can solve it today! Go on please.

Then, let’s go back in time a little. Around 100 years ago in the Russian Empire, photography was not something unusual.

But it was definitely something that only wealthy people could effort.

True. There’s this city called “Krasnoyarsk” in Siberia. Like every other city, it also has some postcards with some local buildings. Everything was fine for some time. But after a while, people noticed something in these postcards.

Aha?

There’s a small figure standing. In some photos, it’s really hard to notice her while she is quite obvious in the others. So,some researchers started investigating. First they zoomed in and improved the quality of the pictures to see what this figure looks like.

How does she look?

They guessed it was a 10 year old girl, appearing in almost the same clothes and standing with the same posture in every single photo! She’s always wearing a white coat and a wide brim hat. Her hair is quite long and braided over her left shoulder.

Hmm. If she looks almost the same in every photo, maybe they took all the photos on the same day?

Yeah, some people also guessed this. In each photo she looks the same but actually with a little change as well. If you take a closer look, you’ll see her hats and boots are different. For those who wonder; you can type “phantom girl of siberia” and check out the photos. Let’s see if you could find other differences in her clothes.

I want to see her too. Wait a second.

You know what I’ve been thinking lately?

I feel like going to REALLY cold places.

You? I give you only 3 days and you’d eventually end up going to Hawaii.

This time I mean it because I’m very inspired by those beautiful birds in tuxedos.

By what?

I mean.. by penguins. Ahh, aren’t they so cute?! They look like gentlemen wearing suits shambling around.

Hah. Where does this penguin love come from? You know it’s not like adopting a dog.

Yeah. That’s why I’m like “I should get to them.”

And?

I’ve been checking my possibilities for Antarctica!

Uhmm. Okay things are getting a bit crazy right now. You know there are countries like Peru, Chile where you could see them. Does going to Antarctica sound more possible to you than going to South America?

Yes. Because I’ve actually found a job vacancy in Antarctica. Uk Antarctic Heritage Trust announced that they’re looking for somebody who will be counting Gentoo Penguins in Antarctica and working in the souvenir shop at the same time!

Hahah. Man, I’m sorry but I can’t imagine you doing that.

Well okay at some point there are difficulties like having no time zone and cleaning penguin poop and-

What? Cleaning penguin poops? Hahah. Wow, that is the dream job!

And some personal hygiene issues...

Don’t tell me you won’t have water to wash your hands.

No no. I just remember reading something like “You’re lucky if a cruise ship docks nearby because that’ll be the only way for you to take a.. proper shower.”

Wow what a relief.. Hahah.

Yeah, also I won't have to pay my bills or any rent. There are like 2 ATMs though. I think I can survive for 6 months.

What would you need the atms for? Are you gonna be going to the clubs with your penguins?

It doesn’t sound so bad!

I would come to Antarctica only to witness this!

You know there’s a lot more to witness rather than my catchy dance moves with my penguins in Antarctica. Let me enlighten you a little bit more about it. Maybe you’ll change your mind eventually.

I’m cleaning my dog’s poop and that’s quite enough for me already. But let’s hear what you’ll say.

We can say that this coldest place ever can have temperatures as low as -128 ºF. So humankind didn’t really have a lot of attempts to discover it fully.

It’s amazing how living beings survive in this eternal cold.

And there’s a part we can’t even witness. The ice covering the continent hides a lot of things. Even today, scientists keep different creatures that don’t resemble any other living being.

According to some legend, below this ice there might be a hidden city. The lost city of Atlantis.
