The threat of being de-platform has become a very real thing in this world. We live in a society where you must walk on eggshells not offend people. This leads to people self-censoring themselves to avoid admonishment.
Classical Liberal, Sargon of Akkad, was recently kicked off the worlds largest membership platform for saying naughty language. Marc Lamont Hill was fired from CNN for using “aggressive rhetoric” towards particular nation-state.
There are many more examples, however, the most troubling thing about this is that they were given no specific reason why they were de-platformed. It seems that it was only just an arbitrary decision.
Now we have a pair of popular internet social and political commentators ditching Patreon over its hate speech rules. Dave Rubin and Jordan Peterson are raising money to create an alternative solution.
The question is -If they succeed in creating a new platform, will it fulfill its promise to its users?
Today we discuss the problems with censorship and slander.
Oh yeah, we also talk about the economic problems in South Africa. South African lawmakers agreed to amend their constitution, making way for land expropriation without compensation. Most of the land is still in the hands of the white minority, traditional leaders and South Africa’s elite.
We explain why removing farm land from a highly skilled labor force is very misguided.
