To some salespeople out there, every lead is a nail and they think they are the perfect hammer. Guess what player, YOU'RE NOT! "Close at all costs" is one of the stupidest sales phrases I ever heard. Not everyone will want your product or service. This is just the reality, everyone does not want and/or can't afford every product. So what should you do? Be a fiduciary. A fiduciary is a person who is looking out for the best interest of their client, so instead of just pushing your product onto everyone, try talking to your prospect and figuring out what is in their best interest.

The other thing is this- You don't want every client. Trust me on this. Some clients think THEY are the hammer and you can't get out of the way. If this is the case, don't let them be your client. You have the right to fire your clients in the same way they can fire you. Stop pushing, people can smell desperation.

Music is emotional and is the best therapy out there. If I hear a song from high school, it takes me right back there every time. I'll know where I first heard it and what I was doing at the time. Music is cheap therapy, the obvious needs to be smacked in the forehead sometimes. It will improve your life AND help you make more money, so here's your homework- Replace news with music. Replace sports with music. Try it for a day, then for a week, then for a month and see how you like it. It will help you be happier, more creative, and in turn that will make you more money, I guarantee it.

Prepared people are the ones that become successful. "Luck favors the prepared" is not just a phrase, it's the truth. People say that chip on your shoulder is a bad thing, but I'm here to tell you it's critical. It may be detrimental in your personal life, but you can't succeed in business without it. Chip will drive you, motivate you, keep you moving forward every day. Chip will give you competitive fuel and the reminder that we are in a constant war for success. You might get your business ass kicked, but Chip will remind you that you need to pick yourself back up again. You will never reach that peak of success if Chip is not your best friend.

You're still here to talk about it. Break out what you want to do into 4 categories- Can do, Must do, and Will do and Should do. You've gotta decide what goes into what category, only you can decide that for you, but think about it and write it down. Degrees are for framing, street smarts will make you money. It's what your parents dram for you, it could be the ticket up, but not the ticket out. Be a business punk thug like the Buckster. To win at business, you have to get in the trenches and battle. Most professors, the "Sage on a stage", they have been out of the real business world for so long, they won't teach you that.

To be street smart, you've gotta know how to do it all. Don't be ashamed that you don't have that fancy degree on the wall, be proud of it. Education IS important, but it's not the Holy Grail that society has made it out to be. Use your street smarts to get you ahead in business and in life. You're juggling while the bullets are flying. Keep that shit up, player.

To get ahead in business, there are 3 core things that will put you ahead of most other companies out there:

1. Do exactly what you say you're going to do.
2. Call on time.
3. Show up on time.

Of course by "On time" I mean early. Way too early. But here's the thing- This is such an easy way to get ahead because your competition is not doing it. We get feedback from our clients who say they love us because we are on time, all the time. That's all we need to do to keep customers happy? Man, that bar is set LOW. I recommend you do the same when you're considering business decisions, career decisions, and marketing decisions. Don't be late and don't make excuses. Do that, and one of my companies will be kicking on your heels and eating your lunch.

Flush yesterday away. You have to put the problems of yesterday in the rear-view mirror. Success in business, life and family requires a short memory, you have to be able to move on from adversity. You have to quickly forget about the failures so you can move on to create more success.

So what does that have to do with your morning dump? You are figuratively (and literally) flushing all that down the toilet and moving on. You don't want to not learn from it, you've gotta look back, analyze it, check for the corn, but then you move on. Shit happens. You know it does, and you can't let it get you down or hold you back. So tomorrow let that morning dump be inspir-hational and moti-hational. While you're sitting on the throne think about what happened yesterday, analyze it, then flush it down.

The Urban Dictionary defines woke as "being aware of the truth behind things 'the man' doesn't want you to know". Meanwhile, a concurrent definition signals a shift in meaning to "the act of being very pretentious about how much you care about a social issue"

That 2nd definition is what gets me and I think this is where we're going as a country. I'm not a racist, or a homophobe, or a misogynist, I hate everyone equally, but I'm also not pretentious about it. If you listen to a few words I say here and there but don't listen for the whole message, the real message, then you're part of the problem. Are we as a country this sensitive, or is this the media and a small group of people driving this crazy train? You can't be too afraid to have the tough conversations. Speak your damn mind without hesitation. Don't be a woke joke.

I know PTSD is real and I respect all of the members of our US military who are dealing with this, but nothing is sacred to the Buckster so here's my version:

P = Pain

T = Time

S = Stress

D = Drive

When you jump into a new venture or a new project, you better be ready for all 4 of these things- Pain, Time, Stress, and Drive. No goal is guaranteed. You're here to implement. Not someday, TODAY. So here's the alternative to my acronym above:

P = Persistence

T = Toughness

S = Sacrifice

D = Determination

Take your pick, you need to frame this however it will drive you forward to be the best, but know you are signing up for PTSD because it's going to be a bitch. If it was easy, everyone would do it. But it's not always about the destination, the journey will teach you and mold you and make you better, whether you succeed or not. This scar will stay with you forever, and it will make you better and stronger. So if you want to be a real mother factual like the Buckster, lean into the PTSD. Be ready for it, and embrace it.
