  • How To Develop An SaaS Product, Get The Best Marketers To Promote It, And Protect Your Cash Flow Too, With Oliver Schmalholz
If you have a SaaS company or a Subscription product, this episode will open your eyes to a powerful path to the top-notch promotion you need.
“Typically, you know, it’s pretty hard to get the big movers and shakers, unless you have relationships with them. They’re pretty selective if they even promote third party products and services at all.” Oliver Schmalholz
If you have an audience, this episode will help you win in the long term and the short term.
“While it’s awesome getting a huge commission on a successful affiliate deal, the current affiliate marketing model is really a short term model.” Roland Frasier.
Roland Frasier talks with serial entrepreneur Oliver Schmalholz, who is not only a tech wizard but a brilliant deal maker. They discuss his background but zoom in on their new partnership and platform, Unicorn Equity, where Promoters earn cash and equity deals and SaaS companies, grow risk-free.
About Oliver After banking millions of dollars when he sold his first company, Oliver realized the traditional discretionary buy-and-hold long-only portfolio wasn’t the holy grail when the Tech Bubble burst. The advisors still made the same fat fees even though his account suffered a major draw-down. Since then, he has only been interested in data-driven investment strategies that work in bull and bear markets. He went from nothing to trading over $4m per day in US stocks and co-founded News Quantified to allow the investing community to generate profits and manage risk utilizing news analytics.
Listen Today For, Why Oliver chose a ‘Data Play’ instead of starting his own Hedge Fund.
An alternative funding source for companies with a subscription product.
How to access the best marketers in the world without shrinking your cash flow.
How a blogger, an influencer, an affiliate marketer can become a Venture Capitalist.
The dynamic Analytics engine that Oliver’s team is building to do all the accounting, valuation, deal configuration, and tracking!
Plus, Olivers Tips For Someone With Nothing But A Software Idea “I know people, who ended up taking a year and a half (or two), and they still don’t have a product. They think they can hire a couple of workers and have them piece together a solution on WordPress. Well, that’s not a scalable SaaS solution…Once you understand the full life cycle of software development, you’re able to do an MVP, a minimum viable product, within 90 to 120 days on any new product or service that you want to roll out” Oliver Schmalholz.
What Oliver would do if he were starting out.
The biggest mistake he sees people make.
“The more time you spend upfront thinking about the end picture, the less you’re going to spend on development once you start coding.” Oliver Schmalholz
Who your first hire should be (before a coder!) and how to spot a great candidate.
The vital difference between a Product Manager and a Project Manager.
Why Oliver likes to hire both great front-end developers and back-end developers.
The 6-Member team you will need (and where to find them).
A target budget that’s reasonable for a well-run team to develop a product.
“If you’re NOT an experienced entrepreneur when it comes to software development, the first-time cost can completely get out of control. I’ve seen people spend a million and a half to $2 million before the product is ever ready.” Oliver Schmalholz
The mistakes he sees developers make.
“It doesn’t have to look super pretty yet. The user interface is important, but don’t spend three months, you know, making stuff look amazing, put it in front of users, collect feedback back.” Oliver Schmalholz
BONUS Oliver hasn’t paid for flights for 20 years. Hear his travel hacks at the end of this show!

  • How To Build A Profitable Community And Stay Passionate About It, With Clint Salter
Of 80,000 dance studios in English speaking countries, 35,000 are part of Clint Salters’ Dance Studio Owner’s Association, which he launched just six years ago. With a combination of courses, a subscription membership, and an ‘inner’-circle,’ Clint is building a fantastic community. Roland talks with him in this episode about the joys and challenges of his business.
If you’re serving a niche audience and building a team, this episode will help you to stay passionate about what you’re doing with encouraging insights and practical tips.

Listen For The benefits of doing periodic challenges (or a ‘launch’).
“Those challenges have really built our list, you know, when you do it right! What I love about a challenge (or a launch) is it creates a lot of groundswell, excitement, and enthusiasm for the message and what for you’re teaching”. Clint Salter
The various ways they have tested and delivered those challenges.
Why you should change your course content often!
What Clint would do differently if he were to start out again today.
The biggest challenge he has and what he’s done about it.
How he found his amazing Operations hire and the process that ensured that it would be successful.
Why you shouldn’t be afraid to employ full-time staff.
“There’s something about a full-time team member. And I know that that is scary for people, but I have loved bringing members on full time because you’ve got the majority of their week, and there’s a different level of energy, investment, and commitment.” Clint Salter
Clint’s Advice If you’re starting out! 1. Please don’t go out, do the photoshoot, get the new website, and spend all your money on it. You don’t need to do that. You need a landing page, you need great positioning, and you need to be able to help.
    2. Get on the phone and talk to your customers. You just need to talk to people. You need to get on the phone and sell your program or sell your consulting. And as soon as you sell it, then you figure it out. You will figure it out when you work with people.
    3. Understand who your target market is and niche down! Everyone has heard this, but people are still afraid. Pick it up and dive deep into that niche - and then serve them deeply, really deeply!

Wealth versus income and how to have it all!
Do you... Focus on creating as much income as possible in the short term, but neglect to think about building wealth for the long term?
Focus on building wealth in the long term, and forget to think about making income for the short term?
The rare few focus on creating income for the short term AND build wealth for the long term. In this episode, Roland establishes that YOU CAN have it all and launches a new series, teaching us how to do just that.
“When the dancing stops, the money stops with it. Then it’s time to face the music. There’s frequently no wealth to fall back on, and you are forced to start dancing again or significantly lower your standard of living”. Roland Frasier

When a Sales Funnel is the worst thing you could do (just make the dang offer!)
"If people don't want what you have to offer, that's stage one, in my opinion. I'm not trying to rewrite the rule book of marketing. I'm just trying to put it in the right order for people who are struggling to generate leads…So I'm all about sales before marketing in this type of framework". Joel Erway.
Which Segment Of Your Market Should You Go After First?
"There's always a segment of your market that has tried something and failed at it, and that's who you need to go after first because they need the least amount of educating to be convinced on whether or not they should work with you."

“But, it just took a lot of grit, right? We worked like every other entrepreneur! We had a nine to five, which was more like a nine to seven, and then from 7 pm to 12 am, we would scour the MLS and make a list of who we wanted to call the next day. Then, on the way to work, we would start going down the list as we were driving. It was a routine that we did for about six months”. Brian Daly.

Listen For, • The best ways to hear the voice of your customer.
    • When to ask your questions.
"Reach out to 50 of your recent customers. You'll never get better feedback than having a conversation with them, talking with them and getting their feelings, actions, and beliefs. This is your Primary Research. Ask them before, during, and after their experience (pre-purchase, purchase, and post-purchase). Give them the ability to submit their ideas on how to make your business better. You couldn't possibly get better feedback." Roland Frasier.

"Disney actually stations people who are Disney employees, near the points where lots of customers are, that are having different experiences, like buying food or waiting for a ride, and they're listening, "ear hustling," taking notes about what the customers are saying." Roland Frasier
    2. Online surveys.
    3. Comment cards. (This idea may be as 'old as the hills,' but it still works).
    4. Guest opinion reports
    5. Usage studies
    6. Ideas submit sites.
    7. Messenger Apps.
    8. Mystery Shoppers.
"I will tell you that if you get a professional to do this, it is annoying as hell. Right? But if you can get past being defensive, then you will learn a tremendous amount of information. Fantastic investment, definitely worth it." Roland Frasier
    9. Telephone surveys
    10. Guest emails
    11. Focus groups
    12. In-app surveys,
    13. Support desk feedback
    14. Social listening (everything from Google alerts to expensive social listing applications).
PLUS, Listen for, More powerful hacks to create a connection and a superior customer experience.
"Even if you have an all online business.. make eye contact and smile. They've done studies that say that if you smile while you're talking on the phone, it puts you in a different state, and the people on the other end will actually realize it". Roland Frasier
