The Penn State Nittany Lions football team heads into the final week of spring football on Saturday. That means the team is in the final week of spring football recruiting as well. Join the BWI Live Recruiting Show today to hear which players are joining the team for practice this weekend. Reporters Sean Fitz and Ryan Snyder discuss the team's visitors, the importance of the prospects this coming weekend, and more!

The BWI Live Show airs Tuesday through Thursday at 10 a.m. on YouTube. Join the show live to ask Fitz and Snyder questions or give your thoughts on the recruits the team is assembling in the Class of 2026. The best way to know when we go live is to subscribe to our YouTube Channel and enable notifications. That way, you'll receive alerts for when we go live and post breaking news and commitment videos.

More Penn State Portal Updates

Of course, the biggest Penn State football news this week is about the spring transfer portal window. Three additional players entered the portal on Wednesday afternoon. Linebackers Ta'Mere Robinson and Beckham Dee, plus cornerback Jon Mitchell, will no longer be part of the program. Snyder and Fitz will discuss what they know of the situation and describe the impact of the losses.

If you haven't checked it out yet, we have a transfer portal HQ at Blue White Illustrated, bringing all the intel and updates you need about the team's portal activity into one place.

Upcoming weekend packs a punch

The upcoming recruiting visitors for Penn State football might be one of the better lists of the spring. Snyder will discuss the important names he's gathered this week about who is joining the program to watch practice. We'll preview the importance of these late spring visits now that most teams are done with spring football. Can the team make some big moves with the Blue-White Game on the horizon?

Top cornerback target Khary Adams is no longer visiting USC for an official visit this summer. Does that increase Penn State's chances of landing one of its top cornerback targets on the board? We'll discuss the latest movement in the recruiting world outside of Penn State.

Finally, our recruiting experts will discuss their conversations with prospects who've recently visited Penn State. Snyder spoke with both quarteback passing coach Brad Maendler and Tom Falzone, father of new PSU QB Commit Peyton Falzone. What has he learned about the latest Nittany Lion? He'll highlight what led to Falzone's decision to join the program.

The Penn State Football team held open practice on Tuesday evening for the fourth week of spring football. The event was just hours before the spring transfer portal opened and discussions were tense around the topic with head coach James Franklin after practice. On today's BWI Live show, we're discussing what we saw and heard during the open portion of practice and our conversations afterward.

Join the show live at 10 a.m. on YouTube to discuss the latest news from the program and ask questions of the show! Penn State practice Update and Transfer portal primer

The transfer portal is officially open for college football players to enter their names and teams to begin contacting them about joining their squads for the upcoming season. We'll give you the latest on what we know about Penn State's situation and the strain it puts on the program with the potential roster limit rules in the future.

Next, we'll discuss what we saw and heard at practice last night. Reporter Greg Pickel will discuss his conversation with defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and get his thoughts about what open practice looked like on Tuesday evening.

The event featured more competitive portions of practice than normal, which we chronicled last night for members of Blue White Illustrated.

Between the Lines

Next, we'll discuss what Franklin had to say when he spoke for roughly ten minutes with reporters after practice. What sort of comments did he have about the transfer portal, and what did he leave unsaid? We'll break it down in our weekly segment "Between the Lines."

Today, we'll discuss the portal, Franklin's thoughts on the Penn State offense evolving in year two, plus a long-awaited update on offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier.

BWI Mailbag and Vibes Check

Finally, we'll end the show with a familiar segment plus a brand-new one. We'll open the BWI Mailbag for our weekly discussion with Penn State fans about the team and then we'll do a Vibes Check on the program by discussing various topics. We're not giving you hard news; we're discussing our opinion about different aspects of the team and our impression of how things are going. Join the show to find out!

Penn State spring portal news

Of course, the news from the end of last week, which became official on Monday, surrounds the spring transfer portal. Guard JB Nelson officially put his name in the transfer portal on Monday as part of the spring rush. We'll discuss how his absence affects the battle for the left guard position and how big of a loss he is for the team.

We'll also discuss how the unregulated spring portal in the lead-up to the House Settlement could change the landscape of college football in its wake. How will Penn State navigate one of the craziest and most ruthless portal markets?

Fitz's Recruiting Update

It was another good weekend for Penn State recruiting. Four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone committed to the program late on Saturday, bringing the total commits for 2026 up to ten. Falzone is also the second quarterback in the class. How do all of those dynamics work out for the program heading into the Blue-White Game in two weekends? Fitz will recap what he learned this weekend and what important names have bubbled up in recent weeks.

Penn State practice preview and BWI Mailbag

Finally, we'll the final open practice of spring football before the Blue-White Game. What are our experts looking for on Tuesday evening as part of our weekly view of practice? We'll discuss what we're looking for and what important factors are at play this week.

Finally, we'll open the show to you! Want to ask about something we haven't covered so far? Ask your questions by posting them in the live chat during the show. We'll either answer them throughout our hour-long conversation, or in the BWI Mailbag to end the show!

Penn State practice recap and portal preview

The Penn State coaching staff must balance the information they've gained through three weeks of camp while keeping an eye on the transfer portal next week. What should fans expect of that situation? We'll preview the coming weekend and the flood of names that will likely enter the portal in the next four to five days. Snyder and Fitz will give their thoughts on how the team balances finding more talent while not driving its current players to look for new opportunities.

We had our latest open practice session on Tuesday. Fitz was with the media inside Holuba Hall to view the team. He'll give us his thoughts on what he saw.

Elite prospects check out Penn State

Snyder caught up with the father of five-star pass rusher Luke Wafle, who is one of the team's top targets in the Class of 2026. Wafle is also the father of a current Nittany Lion, Michigan transfer Owen Wafle. What did Snyder learn from the conversation? We'll discuss that on today's show to kick off the review of the latest recruits who visited campus since our last show a week ago.

From there, we'll review the important names of those who checked out practice this past weekend and on Tuesday evening. Is Penn State setting up for a strong run in the late spring and summer official visit season? We'll get the expert's opinions on that and more!

Upcoming visitors

Of course, there are plenty more names to know in recruiting! Penn State hosts more players at practice on Thursday night and this coming weekend. Fitz and Snyder will discuss the names we know and what they mean for the team's efforts rounding into the final weeks of Spring football.

Penn State practice recap

The team was once again inside Holuba Hall for practice on Tuesday night. We'll recap what we saw up close and perosnal on the north sidelines of the building and what aspects of practice stood out in the third week of camp.

We'll highlight the running backs, wide receivers and the way practice changed from the previous two open practices that the media saw to begin the season.

Three thoughts from Penn State spring camp's halfway point

Of course, none of this happens in a vacuum and we have now seen enough of camp to draw some conclusions from the events. Greg Pickel joins the show to give his three thoughts at the halfway point of spring practice. What are the most interesting observations that have been evident for all three open practices? We'll each count down the top three things we've noticed.

Those observations are based partly on what Penn State head coach James Franklin tells reporters after each practice. We'll recap his latest press conference on Between the Lines. THis week we'll review his comments about the running back position, the defensive tackle battle and the backup quarterback battle in spring camp.

BWI Mailbag

Finally, we'll turn the show over to you, the fans! What do you want to know that we haven't addressed on the show? Join the live chat to ask questions in the BWI Mailbag, which ends the show. The Penn State football team is now a third of the way through spring football, with the team's fifth practice on the way Thursday. With that, the team is deep into its spring recruiting push, getting dozens of players on campus to see the team. Recruiting and football reporter Sean Fitz discusses what he's seen and heard about both topics on today's BWI Live Recruiting Show.

Join the show live on YouTube at 10 a.m. to discuss the team's spring recruiting efforts with the experts! Penn State practice recap

Yesterday we recapped our perspectives on Penn State's open practice from Tuesday night. Today, we're getting Fitz's perspective on what the team did in front of the media. He'll recap the events and discuss what meaningful things he's learned this week about the program.

Penn State recruiting wins

Penn State commit and potential five-star receiver Khalil Taylor discussed his decision to join the program with reporter Ryan Snyder earlier this week. While Snyder is off today, we're discussing his conversation with Taylor and relaying some of the highlights from his conversation with the 2027 pass catcher.

We'll also discuss the team's out of region prospects. Penn State primarily relies on strong recruiting within its geographical footprint but can occasionally snag players from other states. There's a growing list of names that Fitz and Snyder have collected from players interested in the program beyond the borders of Penn State country. How big of a factor can or will they play in this recruiting class? We'll ask Fitz what he can glean at this stage in the recruiting process.

Spring visits and upcoming visitors

Finally, we'll discuss the players who visited the program last week and stand out on the list of names that BWI has collected. Fitz will highlight players he thinks are interesting or meaningful to the story of spring recruiting.

Lastly, we'll discuss players who are joining the program on Thursday afternoon or the upcoming weekend. Join the show at 10 a.m. to find out which players are visiting Happy Valley during this critical stage of the recruiting process.

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team opened practice to the media on Tuesday evening for the fourth day of work in the 15-week camp. It was another extended view of the events for Blue White Illustrated and the rest of the Penn State beat. Today, reporter Greg Pickel joins the show to discuss what he saw and heard at practice.

Penn State practice observations

We'll start right off the top of the show by discussing what we saw in the extended view of practice on Tuesday evening. The team went through positional drills, running games, passing games, and teamwork during the roughly 30 minutes of open viewing. Pickel spent time with both the offense and defense and will give his thoughts about the team's progress.

We'll also dive into the competitive one-on-one periods we saw during camp. Penn State did three separate drills during the open window, including one-on-one passing drills for defensive backs and receivers, blocking drills for those same groups, and running game drills between the offensive and defensive fronts. We'll describe who stood out and who made plays during the nearly live action drills.

Between the Lines

We'll also have an extended session of Between The Lines, our press conference recap feature where we fill in the gaps of what coaches are saying during media interviews. This week we'll feature both head coach James Franklin and wide receiver's coach Marques Hagans. It was a remarkably frank conversation with Hagans, who did not hold back on what he wants from his receivers in 2025.

We'll also be taking your questions live during the show! Want to ask our experts about what we've seen or what we're thinking after two open periods? Join the show live and drop your thoughts into the live chat!

Penn State football and recruiting news

As part of his spring media tour, Franklin appeared on The Andy and Ari Show Tuesday morning to discuss various topics. We'll highlight three of the most interesting and revealing comments he made during his roughly 30-minute conversation with On3's flagship show.

We'll also discuss the team's latest recruiting news on Fitz's recruiting update. The team secured a major recruit this weekend at a critical position. Join the show to learn which player committed to the program that could change the team's fortunes at his position. Of course, the good news came in threes, with Messiah Mickens and Kemon Spell both reaffirming their commitment to the program after a weekend visit. Fitz will give his thoughts on how all of that played out on Saturday.

First week of spring practice

However, the most critical aspect of the past week was the team's performance through the first week of spring practice. Fitz has gotten feedback on the team's efforts and shares some of what he's learned on today's show. Check that out to learn the inside scoop on the team's progress.

Finally, we'll end the show by discussing your thoughts and questions about Penn State Football. The BWI Mailbag closes out the show with questions submitted to us through the Lions Den Message Forum.
