Treatment with antibiotics, although justified in the treatment of bacterial pneumonia, is a primary predisposing factor in the onset of C. difficile infections (CDI). This discussion will provide a background on CDI and secondary bacterial pneumonia. The discussion will also include the relationship between viral and bacterial pneumonia, and how they relate to the onset of a CDI. In addition, the challenge of accurately identifying COVID-19 and FLU season will be discussed.
