What's the difference between spirituality and religion?

This a question that I get often as a spiritual teacher. 

I think it's a great question and important to review periodically especially if your intention is to be free of religion!

And I have thought about it… 
as a spiritual teacher…
as one who has a personal spiritual practice…
as someone who thrived spiritually while being in religion…
And as someone who has come out of religion when it seemed to be limiting my spiritual growth.
