As Joe’s still feeling a little poorly and they both don’t have much to talk about today - David turns to his trusty pinboard ‘ideas cards’ to get the conversation flowing. So they randomly select topics from that, with subjects covered include beaches, maps, more gardening, more old jobs, being likeable and immediate rapport. Then they come up with a popularity contest game, which goes so well that they’ll be continuing with it on tomorrow’s show…

David’s had a close shave this morning, nearly being run into by a truck. So he tells Joe about that and then Joe recounts a similar near-miss when he was a student in Bristol. In other news, David's been watching lots of Blackadder with his kids (with accompanying Flashheart impressions), Joe remembers going to see Bottom live at the Hammersmith Apollo, there’s a progress report on their colds and they finish things off with a little meltdown about listening back to pod episodes.

After seeing how many submissions they’ve received for Joe’s ‘Our Little Systems’ idea, David wants to use today’s Mailbag show to see if the new format has potential. And after reading out the first few messages, David’s feeling increasingly positive about it. But Joe’s really not too sure, so they start a timer and give it 30 minutes to prove itself. Will the listeners’s ‘systems’ be entertaining enough to make it over the finish line…

Picking things up from yesterday’s cold-filled show, there’s yet more chat about showing off and generally being embarrassed by performing. Then David cryptically reveals a very perceptive comment made to him when he was a teenager at school, they try building some self-belief, take a cathartic trip to the beach and come up with some ways to keep their brains sharp. What a ride! Apologies again for all the coughing and sniffing!

Both Joe and David have nasty colds at the moment and feeling pretty rubbish. So they kick things off by discussing their illnesses, taking sickies, joe’s tactics for getting more holiday days at his old job and what it means to be a sociopath. Then, after wondering why they bother podding when ill, Joe challenges David to make the episode a double bubble. So they plough on with the chat - part two will be coming to you tomorrow. Apologies for all the coughing and sniffing!

TV Joe is back and this time he's challenging David and Joe to a game of Mr & Mrs. It’s proper 70’s Saturday night family quiz show vibes, so settle back and find out just how good a match as a couple our Chatabix hosts are. Plus, there’s some chat about the cricket in Sri Lanka, things get a bit ‘punky’, Joe discusses catering on The Traitors and we even get a few TV recommendations too.

It's a classic archive episode this week - Comedian & podcast host Ed Gamble joins David & Joe mid spat. After he’s broken up the argument, Ed talks about Off Menu, getting Ed Sheeran on, chart positions and why they should get a producer. Joe & David start bickering again. Ed leaves.

Delving into the Mailbag once again, we read messages about one of David’s old bosses (which leads to a lot of reminiscing about previous jobs), a Norwegian cigarette quip, a Joe look-a-like (followed by even more digressions) and a litter vigilante video.

It’s the second part of our birthday double bubble episode, in honour of Joe’s 51st birthday. So following on from yesterday’s show, David and Joe discuss some of their insecurities about the pod, wonder why they’re getting fewer abusive comments, almost tell a new anecdote and finally realise why people continue listening to all this drivel. Then in an expositive finale, David reads some old tax returns and Joe digs out his gigging diary from 2011 for a reminisce. Happy birthday Joe!
