Happy Halloween! …And welcome to a rather troubling episode of CheapShow.

This edition of the economy comedy podcast has been pieced together from the recording equipment and audio footage that was found abandoned in a dirty back alley earlier this week.

During the early weeks of October 2022, Paul and Eli attempted to record their Halloween episode for that year. Tragically, that recording session was abandoned and the “Incident on Harbet Road” will never be publicly shared… for now.

In a desperate attempt to get something out for Halloween, Paul and Eli tagged along with Mr Biffo and Sanja for a “Digitiser’s Supernatural World” film shoot at a haunted sweet shop in Chatham, owned by a chap called Dan Does Crafts…

The whole film crew slowly succumbed to an uninvited evil and, as of the publication of this episode, have yet to be found. Their whereabouts are still a terrifying mystery.

What follows is an upsetting and, at times, disconcerting document of what happened on that fateful night, October 24th, 2022.

Sometimes, Paul just isn’t in the mood for Eli’s antics, and this is one of those weeks, for sure! Eli is going to have to tiptoe around Paul as best he can, but when there is a middling sauce report and a super packed Price of Shite to get through, it may not be as easy he thinks. There may be something that perks Paul up a bit, and that is the sexy, alluring new “protector of the p’twings” who is sitting in for Poindexter. Will passions overflow? It’s been a while since Paul & Eli got their taste buds wrapped around some filthy American snacks and treats, so they are both as happy as Larry to dive into a selection of crisps, sweets and disgustingly yummy delights. However, this is CheapShow we are talking about, and it goes without saying that even a simple Cheap Eats section will go off on disgusting tangents: from euphemisms about dirty toilets to poultice policies and arguments about jingle performances. It will all make some kind of loose sense, we promise! There is a Gannon’s Golden Games that yields reasonably underwhelming results and throws Paul into full on pun mode, but despite all the laughs there is a danger lurking. Will they be able to see it coming? Definitely not!

Sometimes an innocent enquiry can lead to a cavalcade of outrage, and this week on CheapShow, a simple test throws everything Paul and Eli know out the window. It’s a question they’ve posed in the past on the show, does how you prepare a good old British cup of tea matter? Does it really effect the taste? It’s time to put it to the test… and the results may be pleasantly surprising to some, and absolutely disgusting to others. Will you respect the results or call for blood? To calm the rage, we also have a chunky Silverman’s Platter to share with a dip into the world of “break-in” records, novelty songs about Jaws and the braggadocio of early rap artists. It’s quite the episode, and that’s before we even get to mentioning Paul tries to pitch a sequel to Clankerman to Eli! How will he take it? As ever, listen and learn!

Following the events of Episode 300, Paul isn’t quite feeling himself and so it’s up to Eli to tackle the tatty topics of the week. He finally gets to finish off the selection of Japanese “worthless” snacks and Gashapon pods, which brings him a lot more joy than Paul gets, who’s really not in the mood. Speaking of which, Paul is (sadly) on full “tinker mode” and decides its time to censor Eli’s tawdry tangents. This does not go as well as he’d hoped, but at least he has a plan up his sleeve to end the episode. As it was Paul’s birthday recently, his mother sent him a box of extremely random items and it’s up to Mr Silverman to roll up his sleeves and dive into Paul’s Mum’s Box with gusto. In more ways than one, it’s a very random episode. Oh, and they also try a few “Sodi-Pops” too. Which brings up a bit of an awkward moment. One that may cause trouble later down the line!

Roll Up, Roll Up for (possibly) the Greatest Live Podcast Recording Ever Made. This Year. In Harrow. There is a loose tradition on CheapShow that when it’s the week of Paul’s Birthday, he decides to do as little as possible to get the episode out with as little editing as possible too. He also likes to drink. A lot. This puts Eli in a bit of a bind. He’s going to have to put up with all of Paul’s s*** and make sure that as many CheapShow segments fit into one hour as possible. As Episode 300 nears, Paul and Eli decide to squeeze in one more walk before summer ends. In this edition of the economy comedy podcast, the cheap chaps decide to take on the 3-mile London Parkway Walk, which is London’s Longest Linear Park, don’t you know?! It’s certainly a long walk for two out of shape idiots who have nothing but Japanese “worthless” snacks as a form of sustenance. There is also no guarantee they will make the trip from Finsbury Park to Alexander Palace in their state! As they follow the abandoned railway line, they’ll attempt some arty augmented reality, wander through a few “kissing tunnels”, explore a bat cave and wander forgotten platforms, cursing and arguing every step of the way! They also attempt a few weak stunts. It goes badly. Obviously.

Attention Shoppers! There’s a clearance sale at the Fashion Boutique! Will it be Paul or Eli to first secure a fancy jacket at a huge reduction? Paul’s been after the MB Games classic “Mall Madness” for a while, and finally, he inflicts his obsession on to Eli. In what was meant to be an easy-going, laid-back episode of CheapShow, the show not only goes off the rails halfway in but spends a good chunk of the remaining runtime feeling terribly ill! It’s a packed show this week as Paul and Eli take on a whole host of topics. They angrily debate the “expert opinion” of a Top 10 best Walkers Crisps flavours list. Eli gets over-excited at the discovery of a lost bit of Tiswas merchandise and Paul wants to reboot the show with a Wild West theme. All of this is overshadowed by a very special Sauce Report segment that is special for ALL the wrong reasons. In fact, it may be the most traumatic Sauce Report they’ve ever suffered through.
