On a good day, Paul and Eli are old, clapped out, exhausted and useless. So, can you imagine what condition they’re in after foolishly exerting themselves following their BIG live show the previous day? You can find out in this week’s frail episode. Following the events of the live 300th episode performance, some kind CheapSkate listeners donated all sorts of weird, wonderful, and woeful packages to Paul and Eli and in this week’s podcast, they dive into some of the more edible offerings. After being wowed by their Cheese and Onion flavoured crisps, the cheap chaps are delighted to learn Tayto have a whole range of flavours to discover! Sadly, the same excitement can’t be observed for the soft drinks that have found their way into CheapShow’s orbit. As if exhaustion wasn’t enough, there’s also the matter of an ever largening room full of knock off characters to worry about!

A few years ago, Paul and Eli did a “Tat Hunt” episode that challenged them to go to a certain part of London, investigate its charity shops and put their discoveries to the ultimate Price of Shite test! Obviously, as it’s been a few years, they thought they would do it again, but this time in Pinner. You know, that place just outside of North West London? No? It doesn’t matter, as the cheap chaps will be doing all the research for you! What will the find in Pinner’s charity shop offerings? Will Paul find something amazing? Will Eli even bother to make an effort? Who will win in the Price of Shite Face Off? It’s a high stakes edition of the podcast. Ok. Maybe not “high” stakes, but Paul is determined to win and Eli is determined to pocket the £10 budget. Typical.

It’s been the talk of the internet for weeks, but this week, Paul and Eli finally give their opinion… On what the hell those unknown flavours are in the Dairy Milk Mystery Bars! There are two bars to investigate, both very different in flavour profile, which is hard enough to figure out without Paul creating a new, deeply annoying, character. Will this new cheeky chappy break Eli or will he succumb to his charms? Elsewhere in the episode, a Silverman’s Platter and a Gannon’s Golden Games segment smash into each other when the cheap chaps have a quick look at the “Animal Kwackers” music album. You know, for kids! It’s an oddity of a platter but one that quickly gets ignored in favour of creating a new jingle and arguing over the point of musical copyright. Oh CheapShow! Sigh.

Sometimes you look at the world and think “God, it’s pretty shit out there!”, so this week on CheapShow, Paul and Eli dive into a book that hopes to inspire positivity and some warm nostalgic cuddles. Along the way, they talk about the joys of dunking biscuits in tea, the random beauty of the lost property office and the childhood joy of penny sweets and pick n mix candy memories. Sounds lovely, doesn’t it? So, it’s a shame all that goodwill goes out of the window the minute Paul pulls out the QI board game based on the TV show of the same name. Then it all gets very ugly… and that’s after the ongoing friction of those CheapShow “knock off” characters establishing a new club and Eli’s appalling attempts to reboot the jingles. Oh dear, indeed!

If Paul and Eli thought last week’s woodland adventure was hot, then this week is going to be a very unpleasant surprise! As temperatures rise throughout the UK, the Cheap Chaps decide to forge onwards and record an episode on one of the hottest days on record. This, as it turns out, is not a good idea. With energy running low and drenched in sweat, Eli suddenly as a great idea… Let’s call Juicy Jeremy and see if he can deliver some cool, refreshing “sody-pops”. It’s a scorching hot day so Paul and Eli decide to skip recording the podcast and take themselves out into the wild to get up to some mischief. In the great tradition of mucking about in the woods, the cheap chaps are trying to recapture those naughty adventures from their youth. They plan to smoke ciggies, drink cheap booze, look for a place to call their “den” and, of course, search for a pile of disregarded porn mags. As with most walkabout episodes, things don’t go according to plan. Along the way they get lost in a cemetery, take abuse from little old ladies, reminisce halcyon days, make toxic cocktails, have a meltdown in Tescos, dangle from trees and make an utter show of themselves. It’s a shameful day out for everyone. Come and join Paul and Eli as they soak up the sun in this Summer Special ramble.

Who likes the Silverman’s Platter segment of the podcast? You’d better, because it ain’t a segment this week, it’s a whole ruddy episode! Paul and Eli take a deep dive into the shallow end of novelty pop records and there is a lot to get through. If you ever wondered what a radio show would be like if it was hosted by the Cheap Chaps, then it would probably sound like this. Packed with weird music, chock full of idiotic tangents and more than its fair share of salty language. So basically, the same old, same old, but with a bit more music than usual. If you ever wanted to know more about unsettling Heinz mascots from the 70s, whatever “gummage” is, the delicate art of the “answer song” and what exactly a “poo chant” is, then you are going to get answers you deserve, and instantly regret hearing. Ready to listen? Not half, pop pickers!

It’s time, once again dear listener, to tackle some more cheap instant noodles, but this week, Paul and Eli may have literally bitten off more than they can chew. They’re tasked with trying to eat a dangerously spicy noodle that warns them of the danger, but the cheap chaps forge ahead… and promptly regret their decision. How spicy can it possibly be? They’re going to find out the hard way. Elsewhere in the episode, it’s time for a new Paul’s Page Turner segment and Gannon is desperate to give it its own proper jingle. Even if that means stealing a bunch of old ones no one is using any more. Finally, Eli finds more joy in a treat Paul’s discovered on the floor. For real. It makes for some serious ejaculations of joy. Which is troubling!

Every now and then, an episode of CheapShow comes along that is “nice” and “lovely”. This is one of those rare episodes where Paul and Eli aren’t at each other’s throats (too much)! It’s time to jump into another listener sent PO Box treat this week and the Cheap Chap are overwhelmed by the goodies that are revealed. Luckily, it’s not all flowers and sunbeams, as Paul (typically) finds a way to make something Eli is enjoying, unenjoyable. Whether it’s creating a naughty limerick or crafting another convoluted score system, Gannon’s out to be a proper annoyance. Eli is spoilt rotten by the box’s contents, Paul, however, just wants to spoil it. From Butt Detective toys to Godzilla gadgets, this episode is heaving with knick-knacks – maybe too many for Eli’s heart to take!
