    Universities across the country have been caught up in a global hacking incident that has hit 9000 education providers around the world. Learning managment system Canvas has been breached, and data including names, email addresses, student ID numbers and messages between users are at risk. The system's currently offline, meaning students can't access course materials or submit assignments. Luka Forman has the story.

  • Salvation Army stores see drop off in people buying second-hand
    When money is tight you might reasonably expect shoppers will turn to second-hand stores instead. However, the Director of the Salvation Army stores said they've seen the opposite, describing the drop as 'significant' and a 'shocker'. ANZ card spending data backs that up. Spending for second-hand goods fell 3.2 percent in March and 3.3 percent in April. There are 125 Salvation Army Family Stores across the country, Gareth Marshall the National Director spoke to Melissa Chan-Green.

  • 880 people on board Kaitaki Interislander close to grounding
    The 880 people on board the Kaitaki Interislander ferry on January 28th 2023 were just 12 minutes from grounding with the potential for catastrophic damage and loss of life. It was saved by anchors kicking in to stop the drift to shore, according to a damning report released by the Transport Accident Investigation Commission. KiwiRail previously been sentenced to pay $432,500 after being found guilty of exposing passengers to risk. But the report said some critical safety issues still haven't been adressed. TAIC Chief Commissioner David Clarke spoke to Melissa Chan-Green.

    A teenager paralysed from the chest down in an accident early this year says he's focussing on the positives and working hard to regain his independence as he comes to grips with his new life. Sixteen year old Noah Berkeley hit a sand bank as he dove into a wave while swimming between the flags on Wairarapa's Riversdale beach just after New year. Bill Hickman reports.
