This is my comfort in affliction, that Your promise has given me life. — Psalm 119:50

God's Word has quickened — made alive — His people. Christ is the life-giving Spirit, and as the Father has life in Himself, so the Son gives life to whom He wills. He is the resurrection and the life. To those who receive Him, He gives the right to become children of God. His words are spirit and life, and the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.

Above the expanse over their heads was the likeness of a throne with the appearance of sapphire, and on the throne high above was a figure like that of a man. — Ezekiel 1:26

Ezekiel saw on the throne the appearance of a man. That's the God-Man, Jesus Christ, the one mediator between God and men. He emptied Himself, took the form of a servant, and was made in human likeness. He shared in our flesh and blood, died, and rose again. Now He's ascended and seated at God's right hand, and in Him all the fullness of deity dwells bodily.

Then Moses said, “Please show me Your glory.” — Exodus 33:18

Moses begged'Show me Your glory'. That desire is written into every redeemed heart. The glory of God is seen in the face of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son who has made the Father known. Our souls pant for God like a deer for water.'Your face, Lord, I will seek'.

“They will be Mine,” says the LORD of Hosts, “on the day when I prepare My treasured possession. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him. — Malachi 3:17

They shall be mine,' says the Lord,'when I make up my jewels'. That's election language — we belong to Him because He chose us. Jesus prays for those the Father gave Him out of the world. He wants us to be where He is, to see His glory. He's coming to be glorified in His saints and marveled at among all who believe.

The trees of the LORD have their fill, the cedars of Lebanon that He planted, — Psalm 104:16

The trees of the Lord are full of sap. That's the picture of a believer rooted in God's grace. Israel will blossom like the lily and strike roots like the cedars of Lebanon. The man who trusts in the Lord is like a tree planted by water — he doesn't fear drought or cease to bear fruit. God exalts the low tree and dries up the high tree.

At that time those who feared the LORD spoke with one another, and the LORD listened and heard them. So a scroll of remembrance was written before Him regarding those who feared the LORD and honored His name. — Malachi 3:16

God pays attention when His people talk about Him. The Lord listened and a book of remembrance was written for those who feared Him and thought on His name. When two or three gather in His name, He's there in their midst. Our names are in the book of life, and every careless word will be accounted for. But here's the beauty: even our holy conversations are recorded before God, and He remembers them.

When He struck the rock, water gushed out and torrents raged. But can He also give bread or supply His people with meat?” — Psalm 78:20

God struck the rock and water gushed out in the wilderness. Us that rock was Christ. When Christ was struck on the cross, blood and water flowed from His side — He was pierced for our transgressions. Yet people still refuse to come to Him for life. They've dug their own broken cisterns that hold no water.

Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body is full of darkness. — Luke 11:34

When your eye is single, your whole body is full of light. The natural person doesn't accept the things of the Spirit — they're folly to him. We need God to open our eyes to behold wonderful things in His Word. Jesus is the light of the world, and as we behold His glory, we're transformed into the same image. God who said'Let light shine out of darkness' has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of His glory in the face of Christ.

While it is daytime, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work. — John 9:4

The night is coming when no one can work. That puts urgency into today. The dead rest from their labors, and their works follow them. In the grave, there's no planning or working. So work while you have light.

But Abraham answered, ‘Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things. But now he is comforted here, while you are in agony. — Luke 16:25

In the story of the rich man and Lazarus, the poor man is'now comforted'. That's the great reversal of the Gospel. God will wipe away every tear. The sun won't set anymore on those who belong to Him. Those who come out of the great tribulation have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb, and God will shelter them.
