This week Christories is about the Battle of DUNKIRK! We’re talking Nazi Germany vs. the French & British, lightning warfare, and how the good guys jumped on some fishing boats to escape the crystal meth NAzis!  – the Battle of Dunkirk! Nazi Germany was on the rise after WWI where they got screwed over by the Treaty of Versalles and they decided to expand their territories to win some money back.

World War II starts and we got Axis vs Allies. We’re not even a year into the war and Germany launches a Blitzkrieg in May of 1940 invading Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. Blitzkrieg is German for “Lightning War” 

War in France starts and there are about 338,000 French🇫🇷, British🇬🇧 ,Belgian🇧🇪, and Canadian🇨🇦 soldiers gathered and the Germans are attacking them all! Winston Churchill starts bugging out on the French leaders and says we need don’t know. 

British Forces planned to get the boys out from Dunkirk to England Now, thousands of British and French troops sat on the beaches waiting for a rescue attempt. They ended up getting the boys out of there which thank god because the war would have been over just as it begun.

This week Chris is talking about the Cuban Missile Crisis! This is a time in history where the cold war got heated ! We got Fidel Castro who is a leader in Cuba and wants a communist government but let's be real, doesn't really happen but shout out socialism and AOC🙌 We had a spy plane flying over Cuba one day and we saw these nuclear bombs and started to freak out. JFK was cool and calm, and had a plan. He told the American people and then plan went into affect. 

Cuba was under quarantine and we had a standoff at sea with the USSR ! Nikita Khrushchev backed off and we avoided a whole war! THANK GOD! Tell us your thoughts babe in the comments!

THIS WEEK ON CHRISTORIES we're uncovering the TRUTH about your favorite Indian Rights Activist👉 Gandhi 🙌 Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India in 1869 and was raised being a devoted practitioner of Vaishnavism which promotes self discipline and non violence. Gandhi grew to be a lawyer and moved from India to South Africa to practice law. There he started stand up for Indian people's rights as there was a lot of discrimination. When he returned to India, he fought for India's independence from Britain. British rule in India was strong and unfair -- to the point they had a huge taxes on salt. SALT!? Gandhi protested this one ridiculous law with a non violent tactic -- marching to the sea to make his own salt, which we know as his famous Salt March. 

Gandhi promoted a lot of peaceful protest and even though he wasn't violent, he did get arrested for rallying so many people together!! He was a good person who inspired a lot of good, but also was known to do a few border line bad things with his nieces. Listen to the TRUTH today!

This week Chris is talking about the history of the Women's Suffrage Movement in the USA. Starting in the mid 1800s, America is growing but the Declaration of Independence still holds true to "All Men are created equal". Women came together for the first time in New York to discuss their rights and that was remembered as the Seneca Falls Convention. Enter the Women's Suffrage movement. Women's suffrage is the right of women to vote in elections. We have women like, Susan B Anthony, Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Paul and Carrie Chapman Catt fighting for women's rights. SHOUT OUT National Woman Suffrage Association! They came together to fight for the 19th Amendment and thanks to the industrial revolution, prohibition and many protests, they got the right to vote in 1920!

This week Chris is talking about an overlooked atrocity during the late 1930’s in China — the Nanjing Massacre. The Japanese had been fighting with the Chinese for years and during the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Japanese had every intention of taking over more land and claiming it as their own.  

After the Battle of Shanghai, the Japan thought that capturing the capital city of Nanjing, would make China surrender and they would win. China’s Nationalist leader Chiang Kai-Shek, was afraid to lose more of his men and told only them to evacuate the city of Nanking, leaving the citizens unable to defend themselves properly. A safety zone was created by a International committee and one of them was a Nazi.. yep that’s right a Nazi ! It was an unfortunate 6 week massacre 

Women were brutally raped and killed, children were thrown in the air for bayonet practice, men were buried alive. It was a very upsetting time.General Iwane Matsui who ordered this invasion was executed for their crimes and since then, Japan has tried to forget this horrible time. We know him for not supporting slavery in the Western Expansion and that the South should not succeed.
