  • Indie Comics Spotlight: Y: The Last Man
This week, Tony is joined by the hardest working man in comics, coming at you live from across the pond, Mr. Max Byrne.
Vertigo comics was in 1993 to publish stories with more graphic or adult content, which did not fit within the restrictions of the Comics Code Authority by the legendary Karen Berger. While technically part of the DC comics family, Vertigo was left alone to bring us some of the most memorable comics of all time including this week’s selection.
Y: The Last Man, winner of three Eisner Awards and one of the most critically acclaimed, best-selling comic books series of the last decade, is that rare example of a page-turner that is at once humorous, socially relevant and endlessly surprising.
Written by Brian K. Vaughan (Lost, Pride of Baghdad, Ex Machina) and with art by Pia Guerra, this is the saga of Yorick Brown—the only human survivor of a planet-wide plague that instantly kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome. Accompanied by a mysterious government agent, a brilliant young geneticist and his pet monkey, Ampersand, Yorick travels the world in search of his lost love and the answer to why he's the last man on earth.

  • Indie Comics Spotlight: Second Coming (Ahoy Comics)
This week Tony is joined by the host of Genuine Chit Chat and Star Wars Comics in Cannon, Mike Burton to have a long talk about Ahoy comics’ Second Coming. Second Coming focuses on Jesus being sent back to Earth to live with a superhero to learn how to be a bit more vengeful.  Tony and Mike have a long talk not just about Second Coming, but organized religion as well. There is no way to have a conversation about this series without having that conversation as well.
Ahoy Comics is an American comic book publisher. It was founded in 2018 by publisher Hart Seely, editors Tom Peyer and Stuart Moore, and chief creative officer Frank Cammuso. At its launch, Ahoy sought to distinguish itself from other comics publishers by including additional "backup material" in each periodical issue, such as prose and poetry features.[1][2]
Following DC Comics' decision not to publish the announced limited series Second Coming by Mark Russell and Richard Pace due to creative differences over the controversial subject matter – it features Jesus Christ in the context of a superhero universe – the series was announced for publication by Ahoy.[5][6]
