  • Indie Comics Spotlight: Something is Killing the Children (BOOM! Studios)
This week Tony is joined by the smooth talking voice of The Spinner Rack over at the DC Comics News Podcast, creator and owner of Seth Singleton Storyteller Seth Singleton.
This week Tony and Seth go deep talking about the first arc of Boom! Studios Something is Killing the Children.
GLAAD Award-winning writer James Tynion IV (Justice League, Batman: Detective Comics) teams with artist Werther Dell’Edera (Briggs Land) for a limited series about staring into the abyss to find your worst fears staring back.
When the children of Archer’s Peak Wisconsin  begin to go missing, everything seems hopeless. Most children never return, but the ones that do have terrible stories—impossible stories of terrifying creatures that live in the shadows.
Their only hope of finding and eliminating the threat is the arrival of a mysterious stranger, one who believes the children and claims to see what they can see.
Her name is Erica Slaughter. She kills monsters. That is all she does, and she bears the cost because it MUST be done.

  • Mandatory Marvel & DC Ep4: Guardian Devil Review
It is time for episode 4 of Mandatory Marvel & DC, a brand new show for the Comics In Motion network that looks back at the very biggest and best stories from the annals of the Big 2 - Marvel and DC!
Each episode, Max Byrne will be joined by a special guest to enjoy a chat about that week's subject matter, talking about what we love about these top tier titles!
For this instalment, we look back at the Kevin Smith and Joe Quesada classic Daredevil storyline, Marvel’s Guardian Devil. Released as eight issues (Daredevil (vol. 2) #1-#8) from 1998 to 1999. This is one of many great Daredevil runs and sees Matt broken down and questioning whether he’s left caring for the Messiah or the Antichrist. Chock full of religious and adult themes, this story is a good jumping on point for anyone who hasn’t ventured into Matt Murdock’s world.
This week, Max is joined by comic book and podcast addict Dave Horrocks for a fun chat all about this masterpiece comic book title.

Shattered Empire is written by Greg Rucka with Andres Mossa as colourist and the artists Marco Checchetto, Angel Unzueta & Emilio Laiso. • Mandatory Marvel & DC Ep3: X-Men - God Loves, Man Kills Review
It is time for episode 3 of Mandatory Marvel & DC, a brand new show for the Comics In Motion network that looks back at the very biggest and best stories from the annals of the Big 2 - Marvel and DC!
Each episode, Max Byrne will be joined by a special guest to enjoy a chat about that week's subject matter, talking about what we love about these top tier titles!
For this third instalment, we look back at the masterpiece that is X-Men - God Loves, Man Kills. Released as a graphic novel in 1982, this seminal work by Chris Claremont and Brent Anderson has never felt more relevant than it does today. Serving as the primary inspiration for the 2003 movie X-Men 2, this is a book that puts a spotlight on bigotry, racism, prejudice and religion. An awful lot to unpack within the pages of this classic title.
This week, Max is joined by the amazing Tony Farina, host of the amazing Indie Comics Spotlight show and an incredibly prolific writer, as we discuss the themes of this masterpiece comic book title.

  • TV & Movie Reviews: Bloodshot (2020)
Chris and Dave review the recently released Bloodshot (2020). This movie has the unfortunate problem of being released when the world is on lockdown. It has been put on all digital formats now due to it bombing at the cinema and the closure of all entertainment venues around the world.
    Plot Summary:
Ray Garrison, an elite soldier who was killed in battle, is brought back to life by an advanced technology that gives him the ability of super human strength and fast healing. The true question is: Can he even trust himself?

  • Star Wars: Comics In Canon - Ep 2: Darth Maul Beyond The Phantom Menace

This week Mike talks about the notorious Darth Maul and his life before & after The Phantom Menace, including his training before TPM, how he survived being cut in half, his involvement in The Clone Wars, a brief explanation on his appearances in Solo and Rebels, all intertwined with his appearances in comics. Clone Wars S7 is not mentioned in this and no spoilers for SW Rebels are mentioned either - for the best listening, watch The Phantom Menace and a light recommendation would be to watch Clone Wars & Star Wars Rebels however this is not imperative.

Comics discussed are; Darth Maul (Cullen Bunn & Luke Ross), Age Of Republic: Darth Maul (Jody Houser & Luke Ross), Darth Maul: Son Of Dathomir (Jeremy Barlow & Juan Frigeri) & the Legends comic Darth Maul: Death Sentence (Tom Taylor & Bruno Redondo).

Last week Mike spoke about The Rise Of Kylo Ren comic mini-series and next week he will be exploring how C3PO got his red arm (as seen in The Force Awakens).

If you have any questions, pointers or just fancy a chat, send Mike an email at [email protected]
