In this bonus episode of Communicable, hosts Anne-Grete Märtson and Angela Huttner invite Martin Grobusch (University of Amsterdam; ESCMID Emerging Infections Subcommittee) and Daniel Bausch (National University of Singapore, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and Geneva Graduate Institute) to discuss the Bundibugyo ebolavirus outbreak currently ongoing in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. Clinical and virological differences between Bundibugyo and Zaire ebolaviruses are discussed, as are the particular challenges for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention confronting healthcare workers of this outbreak.
