In this week's edition: Remembering Papa Wemba; press freedom in Somalia; and Dak'Art 2016. The Democratic Republic of Congo has bid a final goodbye to its rumba king. Thousands of people turned out to Papa Wemba's funeral on Wednesday. The 66-year-old's career put him at the heart of Africa's music scene for decades. He died after collapsing onstage during a concert in Ivory Coast in April.

Meanwhile, Tuesday marked World Press Freedom Day. It came amidst tough times for some journalists. Human Rights Watch has released a new report highlighting the particular dangers faced by those reporting in Somalia. Al Shabaab extremists often target journalists in the country, and the government has also come in for criticism for trying to affect media coverage.

And the 12th edition of Dak'Art, the contemporary African art show, kicked off in the Senegalese capital on Tuesday. Over the next month, artists from all over the world will be exhibiting their work in sites across the city. Our correspondents were there for the grand opening.
