Cougar Tailgate

If there's one WCC destination you have to put on your list when fans are back in stadiums it is BYU's yearly trip to Malibu and Pepperdine University. Scheduling has been weird all year and the Cougs start a back to back series with the Waves today. Get to know them with their Kazoo extraordinaire play-by-play man Al Epstein.

We preview the men's basketball game with San Francisco, and review the win at St. Mary's. We also get to know BYU Sports Nation's Ben Bagley.

Another week, another game on a few days notice. BYU didn't get the end result they wanted after a short week game against the Zags, but it was fun to watch it happen. The guys just want to play and there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make it happen, so BYU TV Coordinating Producer Dave Phillips Jr. joins the show today to explain the process from a game announcement to tip off on TV.

Hear the entertaining, behind-the-scenes story about how the game vs. Gonzaga was scheduled.

Happy New Year Cougar Fans. BYU Football gave us all an early Christmas present last week from Florida with a big win in the Boca Raton Bowl ending the weird 2020 season with just one loss. Now we're looking forward to basketball. Unfortunately in 2021 there are still safety precautions to take and the Cougs haven't quite been able to tip-off conference play. We taped an interview with Jack Cronin the voice of the USD Toreros earlier in the week and you'll still be able to get to know the WCC foe from Southern California today. Go Cougs.

We put a bow on the successful football season and look ahead to basketball.

The most wonderful time of the year just got better, BYU has accepted an invite to the Boca Raton Bowl in South Florida on Tuesday. Shep and Lauren will get you ready with some facts and history of the game, then as we always do, get to know the opponent. Jimmy Skiles is Central Florida's AD of Brand Advancement and he Zooms into the show to talk about the Bounce House and what it feels like being a fellow non-P5 disrespected by The Committee. Looking forward to a jolly week with BYU Football and Santa coming down the chimney with a bowl victory. Go Cougs!

The football season isn't over yet AND we're finally getting a BYU vs. Utah rivalry match. Okay, it's not the one we were looking forward to this year, but these two teams have had some battles on the court as well as the field the past few years. We'll get to know some behind the scenes of the school up north's athletics with former Ute and current AD Manny Hendrix. San Diego St. is the football team on the schedule and did you know Apollo Creed played linebacker there in the 70's? That and more on Cougar Tail Gate.

Well this is going to be fun. From a bye week to College Football Gameday featured matchup of undefeated top-15 ranked schools, we'll get fans ready for a tail gate like no other. Also there's that basketball game that we were already preparing for. Utah State at the Spectrum, even with limited fans, is no joke. We'll talk Aggie hoops with Gary Wilkinson. Go Cougs.

With a football bye week, BYU fans have nothing to distract them from the social media insanity of the week. The roller coaster since last Saturday has taken us from a potential UW game to a disappointing 14th in the College Football Playoff rankings to today. And all the week that men's and women's basketball get off to great starts. We'll catch you up on it all on the Cougar Tail Gate. Go Cougs!
