Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has tested positive for the coronavirus, as has his wife, Teresa. Parson is awaiting a second test to confirm the results but says, "Right now, I feel fine, no symptoms of any kind.” The couple will likely be quarantined a few days.
Johnson & Johnson says their vaccine candidate is in Phase 3, which is the final stage of clinical trials in the U.S. It’s the fourth vaccine candidate to reach this final stage. Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca are also there, though AstraZeneca paused after a U.K. participant developed a spinal cord injury.
New research from universities including Harvard and Rutgers suggest Americans under 25 are most likely to believe virus-related misinformation. Younger people had an 18% probability of believing a false claim, compared with 9% for those over 65.
Finland has deployed coronavirus-sniffing dogs at its main international airport. It’s a four-month test to see if this could be a faster, more cost-efficient way to identify infected travelers. Four dogs of different breeds were trained by Finland’s Smell Detection Association.
In New York City, the Metropolitan Opera announced the cancellation of its entire 2020-21 season. That will stop the music until next September. The organization has lost more than $150 million in revenue and has about 1,000 full-time employees furloughed without pay.

The retransmission rate is currently fastest in Wyoming, Rhode Island, Oregon, Colorado, and Texas. While the lowest retransmission is found in California, Hawaii, Ohio, Mississippi, and South Carolina.
There’ve been a total 201,930 deaths in the U.S. reported as COVID-related, with a current national fatality rate of 2.95%.
