Do you have a best friend? The person you could call at 2am for no reason in particular, or because this person ends up giving the best advice? Who is that person for you?

This is actually a really important question. It's so important that King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, besides Jesus, once wrote in Proverbs 13, verse 20, "Walk with the wise and grow wise for a companion of fools suffers harm."

As we conclude our message series called “Journey”, we will see how having the right company mattered Paul's next mission journey. We'll explore friendships, groups and the value of being surrounded by Christian community, who helps us stay focused on Christ, as we seek to know, experience and share the love of Christ.

In the first part of Acts 15, the early Church reviewed the promises of God and the assurance that God's love shown by Jesus was and is unconditional.

He loves everyone. It doesn't matter what our history or past record.

In our scripture passages, we will see how God's Word was communicated to the young church throughout the world. This communication brought courage, strength and peace that God wanted his family to enjoy at that time and today.

What's the best way to resolve conflict?

In a keynote speech to graduate students in conflict analysis, international mediator Kenneth Cloke (2011) made a profound statement: "Conflict is the arrow pointing to what we need to learn the most." https://positivepsychology.com/conflict-resolution-in-the-workplace/

Do you view conflict that way? What was the point of contention? The most important question we could ever ask: Is Jesus enough to be saved or do I need to contribute to the effort?

Sadly, this debate has continued through the centuries to this very day. What can we learn about this all important conflict and how can we resolve it?

Would you say you're successful? Would you put your names next to people like Devon Booker, Elon Musk and Oprah Winfrey? Maybe not, but God would definitely put your name on a list of successful people.

God's version of success is different than how we would define it. Most would define success by how well a person is living the "American Dream". A house with a white picket fence, perfectly fulfilled in the job they have, financially stable, ready to retire under the age of forty, the perfect family...

Some of our social media posts may lead other to think this way. But that's not how God defines it.

Are you 'coachable'? Some of the people who listened to the Apostle Paul thought they had religion mostly figured out. They had a basic understanding of God. They knew that they should keep the rules. They tried to be 'good' people.

Other people who listened to Paul knew nothing about God. They had lived apart from God and didn't know anything about Him or his Word.  So, as a rule, who do you think were the 'best students'? Those who approached God with humility. Those who left their preconceived ideas of God behind. Those who listened and took to heart what Paul had to say.

As we continue our new message series called "Journey," we will be looking at the reaction of the people who heard Paul's message. Open your heart and mind to the message of Jesus Christ and His great love for you. See the difference He can make in your life.
