They explain how in certain areas, community care centers have closed so people lack education and awareness, then end up with second-rate providers who do not offer the quality of care and medication available elsewhere. People are miseducated, and encounter complications. Doctors in these communities automatically ask patients to lose weight and begin prescribing more and more medication to help with symptoms, rather than investigating the underlying causes. They further discuss the root causes of common diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Nutrition is not taught in schools, nor are healthy cooking courses. They talk about beginning with subtle changes, such as teaching community classes, offering education for adults, etc. It’s a matter of economics as well as environmental conditions which dictate the foods available.
