Stress is undoubtedly impacting most, if not all, of us today. Stress is when our body, as a result of what we're thinking, is feeling a large number of negative emotions. This can drain our energy and we become less aware of what we're doing, causing us to be less productive. It can also have a huge impact on our health. In this episode of Culture Within we look at ways to reduce stress, change stressful environments, and work on changing ourselves. Reducing the stress in our lives will greatly improve our health, relationships, attitude, communications, and our work environment.

In a world filled with information, opinions, and direction, we can all feel overwhelmed. Communication overload is a critical barrier within organizations and our personal lives. Overload can then lead to assumptions. We may assume information is factual, correct, or fictional. We may also develop assumptions about people.
So how do we break down communication barriers of information overload and assumptions? Today we'll discover skills that we can develop to verify the information we're receiving AND giving, prioritizing, and dealing with our own assumptions. It all starts with the understanding that being an effective communicator and developing the culture you desire, begins within each one of us.

In today's world, most organizations and teams are communicating via conference call or video conference. A number of companies have told me this week that they feel this work-from-home (WFH) situation is affecting their culture. How could collaboration via technology start to impact your culture? Communication barriers.
Physical and emotional barriers to interpersonal communication are real. The first of the physical barriers are Words. Words have different meanings for different people. Words are unknown or too general. Words can spur emotion in others and, many times, we aren't even aware.
In this episode, Bill Kinsey and Scot Fahrenbruch take a closer look at why words are a physical barrier to communication, how they may be impacting your culture, and what you can start to do about it.

Has anyone ever asked you if you're aware of how you communicate? Did you ever stop to think about how effective of communicator you are? Do you think people understand what you're trying to say? How do you react to other people's communication?
Regardless of how many devices we have at our disposal to communicate well, including our ears and mouth, we generally struggle with communication. Yes, we grew up learning new words to say, went to school to learn grammar, and may have possibly taken a speech class. But have we really learned how to communicate effectively?
In the first episode of Culture Within, we jump right into understanding the importance, the mechanics, and what's holding us back from effective interpersonal communication. We'll take a look at what may be holding us back and also what we may do to improve, not only how we communicate, but all how we respond.
