Hey there, anglers! Artificial Lure here with your local Los Angeles fishing report for this beautiful Saturday, March 29, 2025. Let's dive right in and see what's biting in our waters today.
First off, we've got a gorgeous spring day ahead of us. The sun's gonna rise at 6:42 AM and set at 7:12 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to work with. Weather-wise, we're looking at partly cloudy skies with highs around 72°F and a gentle breeze coming in from the southwest. Perfect conditions for a day out on the water!
Now, let's talk tides. We've got a low tide at 5:23 AM, followed by a high at 11:47 AM, and another low at 5:36 PM. Remember, folks, those transition periods between tides can be prime fishing time, so plan accordingly.
The fish have been active lately, with some good catches reported around the area. Bass fishing has been particularly hot, with largemouth and spotted bass both biting well. We've also seen some nice stripers coming in, especially in the early mornings and late evenings.
For you saltwater enthusiasts, the halibut bite has been picking up, and we're seeing some good-sized calico bass around the kelp beds. Don't forget about the yellowtail either – they've been making appearances off the coast, so keep your eyes peeled.
As for lures, you can't go wrong with some tried and true SoCal favorites. The Keitech swimbaits have been killing it lately, especially the 3.8" Fat Swing Impact in bluegill flash or electric shad colors. For the bass, try working a Deps 3.5" Cover Scat along the weed edges – it's been producing some nice strikes.
If you're more of a live bait person, the local bait shops are stocked up. Bloodworms and lugworms have been hot sellers, and the large nightcrawlers are always a solid choice. For you saltwater folks, fresh frozen anchovies or sardines are your best bet for the bigger game fish.
Now, let me give you a couple of hot spots to check out. For freshwater action, Castaic Lake has been on fire lately, especially around the dam area. If you're looking for some urban fishing, Echo Park Lake in the heart of LA has been producing some nice bass and carp.
For you saltwater anglers, Redondo Beach Pier has been seeing some good halibut action, and the waters off Palos Verdes have been productive for yellowtail and calico bass.
Remember to grab your gear from our local tackle shops. Tackle Shack USA in Sylmar has been keeping their shelves stocked with all the latest and greatest, so swing by and say hi to Mike and Steve while you're gearing up.
That's all for now, folks. This is Artificial Lure signing off and wishing you tight lines and big catches. Don't forget to share your fish stories with us when you get back. Stay safe out there and enjoy our beautiful SoCal waters!
