  • Irish Designer Features In Pharrell & Jay-Z Video: 'Keep Working Hard, You Never Know When It Will Pay Off'
When Florence Ojo got an email from someone asking her to appear in the new video from Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z, she did the typically Irish thing and declared it a scam.
With two days notice, she told the 'scammers' that she wasn't available to appear in the music video as she works full-time. Soon, however, she came to realise that the email wasn't a scam at all, and the multi-award winning superstar producer did want to use her for his new video, Entrepreneur. The team jetted to Ireland, where they met Florence at her home in Tallaght.
The video, which focuses on black-owned businesses, featured people from all around the world from HBO star Issa Rae to our own Florence Ojo.
Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Florence revealed how her work at M.I.O Prints was spotted by Pharrell's people, and her that the video will bring her prints to an international audience.

  • Irish Mother Takes Two Days Maternity Leave Due To Covid-19
For most mothers, at a more 'normal' time, maternity leave should be a time for rest, recuperation and bonding. But when you're a small business owner, and a new mum, things are often far more complicated than that.
Two weeks ago, Catriona Lysaght gave birth to her fourth daughter, Georgie and was back in work within 48 hours.
Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Catriona explained that her job as a speech therapist at The Speech Centre has become a lot more challenging during the pandemic and her plans to 'throw money' at the issue of maternity leave, were scuppered.
Aware that she has numerous people who are relying on her, Catriona made the decision to take just two days off and is back in work, feeding her daughter during Zoom calls.
Catriona told Dermot and Dave that while it was a tough decision, she is relishing Georgie's night feeds and looks forward to taking a holiday in a few weeks time.

  • Man Faces Prison Time For Leaving A Bad Review
Think before you click is something we all need to remember, and it's something that is often forgotten when it comes to leaving a bad review of an experience or place.
It is easily done, often in the heat of the moment and usually when you're really annoyed at whatever has happened.
But it can backfire, as one man has discovered. He's facing prison time in Thailand after leaving a negative review of a hotel in Thailand.
The American left a negative review of The Sea View Resort on popular site, Tripadvisor which the hotel maintain are 'unfair' and cause damage to their reputation. In a number of reviews posted over a few weeks, the tourist claimed that the hotel staff were 'unfriendly' and didn't want customers there and in one, which was removed by Tripadvisor themselves, make a connection to modern-day slavery.
Jessica Maciel is a Today FM presenter but also a small business owner and she spoke to Dermot and Dave about the damage that a 'one-star' review can have on a small business.
