  • Shock As Noni's MasterMind Topic ISN'T Chawwwwklit
We can't believe it, there's no one in the world that we'd trust to know more about chawwwwklit than our Noni. She's been selling it outside Thomond Park for longer than anyone can remember and quite honestly, it's usually all she talks about.
However, it turns out that there's something Noni knows even more about and she revealed all when she joined Dermot and Dave for a special edition of Mastermind.

  • Should You Be Starting Your Christmas Shopping Now?
It's less than 100 days until we all sit around a socially distanced table and exchange gift of hand sanitizers and face masks while thinking back on what a weird year it has been for us.
But there are some concerns that the busy shops won't be busy and the overly packed shops might be lacking in stock when it comes to December. That is terrible news for the last minute Christmas Eve shoppers and could mean that even the more organised among us could be struggling to get gifts for their loved ones in time for the big day.
Speaking to Dermot & Dave, Duncan Graham from Retail Excellence Ireland explained some of the struggles that independent retailers across Ireland are dealing with and why we should be supporting local in the run up to December 25th.

  • 'It's Not Just A Random Number' - The Reason Why More Fans Aren't Allowed Attend Sporting Events
Get ready to fill up the flasks of tea and wrap the sandwiches in tin foil – because fans are allowed back to matches! It was announced yesterday as part of the Roadmap on Living with Covid-19 by Taoiseach Michéal Martin.
From today, 200 spectators will be allowed inside Grounds to watch a game, while a ‘working group’ has been established by the GAA, FAI and IRFU to get fans back into stadia across the country.
But some fans were not happy with what was announced yesterday. Why is that? And is it even safe to have fans back at all?
This morning on Dermot & Dave the lads were joined by Maire Treasa Ní Cheallaigh from OTB Sports, who spoke about the impact having fans attending sporting events could have on our health system.
Maire pointed out that most people who attend games do not travel alone, and this could be a real issue for the spread of the virus. People are being told to limit their social contacts by NPHET at the moment, and travelling in a car, train or bus to attend a game poses a serious risk.
Maire Treasa Ní Cheallaigh from OTB Sports, who is also an accredited Sport Psychologist & Medical Student in RCSI joined Dermot & Dave for a chat this morning.

  • Tánaiste Says Dublin Is 'Not Getting Special Treatment' When It Comes To Covid-19 Restrictions
Moving to level 3 or even 4 in Dublin is a real possibility, according to a government minister.
The National Public Health Emergency Team is reviewing the situation after 218 cases were confirmed in the capital yesterday - with 357 nationwide and 3 further deaths.
Currently Dublin is on level 2, in line with the rest of the country, with a number of additional restrictions and people advised not to leave the county.
The Tanaiste spoke to Today FM this morning, where he confirmed that the numbers in the capital were extremely worrying and that government would be making a decision on further restrictions in Dublin following a meeting of NPHET.
Mr. Varadkar also said he is 'optimistic' that a vaccine for Covid-19 would be available to the Irish public by the 'middle of next year' - as international signals from manufacturers such as Pfizer are promising at this time.
On restrictions in Maternity Hospitals the former Taoiseach confirmed that there would be 'no immediate change' to the restrictions on the number of people allowed in with an expecting mother for the time being.
Meanwhile, The National Public Health Emergency Team advised against the re-opening of pubs until there's been two weeks of stabilisation in the trajectory of the virus.
This would apply to most counties in the country given the rising number of cases over the past two weeks.
NPHET also told the government last week the same should apply for the increase to 200 in people allowed to attend sports.
In a letter dated last Thursday acting CMO Ronan Glynn said there's no guarantee more measures will not be needed nationwide in the coming days and weeks.
He also warned Dublin is on track to see at least 300 cases of COVID a day by the end of this month.

  • 'What If I Use Too Much Loo Roll?': The Realities Of Moving Back Home At 35
Pandemic or no pandemic, there are thousands of young people who are trying to get on the property ladder but can't due to the height of rents and increasing property prices around the country.
It was reported back in February that the number of Irish people aged 25-29 who still live at home increased at one of the highest rates in Europe between 2007 and 2017.
But there is another trend which sees people who have moved out returning to their family home. For some, they've moved back during the pandemic to save on rent but for others, it's a longer term plan as they try to break the back on saving for a deposit.
One of those people is Alison from Dublin, she's recently moved back in with her mother and she joined Dermot and Dave to explain why she made the move, how her mother feels about it and why herself and her partner have to act more like 'normal people' than before.

  • What Farts And Venus Have In Common
In what can only be described as the next logical step in the science fiction film that we're all living in, it emerged that there might be life on Venus.
But what do farts and Venus have in common? Turns out quite a lot.
Speaking to Dermot and Dave, space commentator Leo Enright explained whether the announcement of potential life in space is an exciting development or if it's all just hot air.

  • The Most Satisfying TV Show You'll Ever Watch Is Available On Netflix
Get read to clear that to-do list, all while watching Netflix.
Netflix's new eight-part series, Get Organised with The Home Edit, sees organising gurus Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin help to edit, categorise and contain clutter from celebrity homes including Reese Witherspoon, Neil Patrick Harris, Eva Longoria and Khloe Kardashian.
Clea and Joanna are both California transplants, currently living in Nashville. Brought together by a mutual friend, it was friendship at first text, and business partnership immediately thereafter.
The goal in starting The Home Edit was to reinvent traditional organizing, and merge it with design and interior styling. While every project is rooted in functional systems that can be maintained for the long term, there is just as much emphasis placed on transforming the space visually and adding their signature stylized aesthetic.
Seán revealed all the details today while he stood in for Maria with the Telly news.
