  • MS To Success: One Lady's Incredible Journey To Beating Multiple Sclerosis
Karen's life changed when she decided; "I'm gonna make myself happy"
At the age of 23, Karen Dwyer had to rebuild her life after her appearance on the Channel 4 show 'Make me a Million' left her publically humiliated.
After moving back home to Ireland and settling into her new life, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 31, which spurred her on to change her mindset and help others do the same.
Karen tells Dermot and Dave all about her unbelievable story - from being shafted by a business partner who "found a more lucrative friend in a millionaire mentor" (she lost out in a cut of a £13.4m deal) to depression, to beating MS through the power of positive thinking.
When asked how she first noticed there was something up with her, Karen says, "a few months after having my second daughter Sadie, I started getting this numbness up my hand...then it started growing up my arm". It continued to spread and that was when she knew she needed help.
With her liver count seven times higher than it should have been and her relationship with her fiancé over, the Malahide native couldn't remember what it was like to be happy, but thankfully, a fateful outing to the Pendulum Summit changed her outlook on life.
In 2018, Karen setup 'MS to Success' - a 12-week programme designed around her first-hand experience with the condition.
It aims to invigorate people to find the magic in their lives and create the lives they really want and deserve.
Karen describes it as a, "360 support roadmap of empowerment".

  • Foil Arms & Hog Perform A Breathtaking Brexit Ballad
"It's hard to break free from a union"
Foil Arms and Hog are an Irish comedy trio like no other.
With over a decade of experience under their bauld belts, the popularity of their observational and often topical comedy has exploded.
They now reach a much wider audience via their social media channels and like the British Empire, you'd find them all over their world.
The lads popped into Today FM headquarters for a catch up with Dermot and Dave and with Brexit being the buzzword of 2019, they decided to perform a beautiful ballad about it.
BoJo & Co. could learn a thing or two from these fellas I tell ya!
Irish crowds, nicknames and the pressures involved in pumping out consistent content are also discussed.

  • Can You Pass This Tricky 20th Century Pronunciation Test?
    I'd be gone at "Cholmondely"!
The English language is a funny thing. And when I say funny, I mean, peculiar.
In the latest edition of Dave's World, Dave Moore proved just how wacky it can be with a 1920's diction test for aspiring radio announcers.
Any NBC broadcasting hopefuls who wanted to get on air were given this paragraph to read out:
'Penelope Cholmondely raised her azure eyes from the crabbed scenario. She meandered among the congeries of her memoirs. There was the Kinetic Algernon, a choleric artificer of icons and triptychs, who wanted to write a trilogy. For years she had stifled her risibilities with dour moods. His asthma caused him to sough like the zephyrs among the tamarack'.
Dave's co-host Dermot has a go at it - and it's a lot more difficult than you think.
Check out how he got on, and the correct pronunciations, by pressing the play button on screen.

  • Noni - "All I Want For Christmas Is Chaaawwwklit"
The phrase 'Christmas classic' is thrown around a lot these days - but Noni has taken it to a whole new level. You've heard Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You, but like ever class tune it needs an update. So Noni decided to remaster the holiday hit to make it more relocatable to her. Have a listen to Noni's All I Want For Christmas Is Chocolate below.

  • Should Cork Mother Report Damage Her Daughter Did To Their Neighbour's Car?
A Today FM listener needed some help after he daughter scraped the motor
Fiona's daughter lost control of her bicycle recently and hit into her neighbour's sparkly, new white car, causing a scrape. And while Fiona knows she could say nothing and get away with it, she wants to fess up and live by her morals. But what's the best approach?
This is where Dermot and Dave and the rest of our listeners come in.
The lads were inundated with messages as to how Fiona could fix it herself, with other people like Eileen, Orla and Caroline sharing their stories.
But it's Yvonne's hilarious tale of a jealous lover that gave me the best laugh.
Honesty is always the best policy Fiona, but a few treats will help soften the blow.

  • The Pieta House Wren Run Embodies What Community Spirit Is All About
A Galway village will raise wellbeing awareness and much needed funds for a very worthy cause
St Stephen's Day is usually spent plonked on the couch, regurgitating turkey sambos whilst still trying to scoff down your favourites from the Roses tin.
But if you're looking to get outdoors, breathe in the fresh air and have some fun, then the Pieta House Wren Run just might be for you.
The event involves a 3km 0r 6km walk, jog or run in the beautiful surroundings of Galway village Woodford and is for people of all fitness levels.
Their mission statement is as follows:
'We believe in connecting communities and in thinking differently in everything we do. We connect communities by delivering a relaxed and enjoyable experience and by making our event one that you will want to return to year after year, in order to help support those around you. All proceeds are split 50:50 between Pieta House and local community wellbeing initiatives.'
Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, organiser Roderick Whyte told us how the Wren Run is growing from strength to strength; "it's been hugely successful over the last four years. I think the first year we started off we had about 500 people, 10 sponsors, and this year we have 2,000 and over 100 sponsors".
"Our area used to be synonymous with the wren boys going back over the years and it had kinda died away, so we're trying to reintroduce it back into the community again", he adds.
If you would like to get involved in the initiative in any way, you can check out their website pietahousewrenrun.ie
