Let's get into a bit about my story...
While this episode is just a small preface to the goings on of my childhood, I chose to read this letter specifically, to lay some ground work before the real fireworks.
I was a child of the foster system, since I was born. Unfortunately my foster family only fostered young babies and I was adopted at around the age of a year and a half.
And while that may be great news to some, it ultimately caused quite a lot of harm to my sister and I growing up with that "family."
Just because someone seems like a decent member of society doesn't mean they are...the monsters unmask themselves without prying eyes.
Lies are usually louder than the whispers of the truth, but I will be the voice for those who don't have one...
Going no contact with your abusers is most definitely acceptable especially when there are those out there who side with your abusers and make friends with them.
And if you were a child and your caregivers/someone close to you ever abused you, you didn't deserve that. They were the adult and you were unfortunately the target of their backlash and emotional/physical reactivity.
It's time we smoke them out...
It starts by telling our truth.
