I’m joined by the lovely Alison Lewis from Alison Lewis Interiors today and we’re talking about paring back materials to create a stylish home that feels cohesive and inviting.
Some people have a natural flare for design. They create a sense of style in their home that expresses their personality and they love spending time and energy designing a space that feels good.
Other homes can be lovely, but perhaps not very stylish so in this episode, Alison shares her top tips for how to create a home that looks and feels amazing.
One mistake a lot of people make is trying to incorporate too many elements but the trick is to pair the materials back and keep it simple. Less is always more. We talk about design development and how this process always involves editing and paring back materials to the bare minimum. Find the materials you really love and use these throughout the home to connect spaces together and tell a story.
It’s about assessing the space that you have, finding the materials that bring you joy and using them in smart and creative ways all throughout your house. That doesn’t mean everything is matchy matchy - that’s boring. But think about how you can group the rooms together to create a general style that continues throughout the home.
