My guest today is Alison Lewis and we’re talking all things selecting stone. Alison is an interior designer, embarking on her own projects and also consults for others in her business, Alison Lewis Interiors. I’m so grateful to have her on the show today to delve into design!
In this episode, we’re discussing how to select stone for your next build. Limestone, marble and granite are the main three materials we look at and they each have varying strength, colours, veins and more.
You can get stones that cost $1000/square metre or you can get stones that cost $180/square metre - you have to understand what you’re asking for, the size of the slab and your budget.
Alison and I both love working with natural stone. Every time you use it, you get something unique with amazing colours and a beautiful movement.
It’s very important to know what you’re selecting and view the product on site to see the colours and feel the stone in person so you know exactly how it will look and feel in your build.
Not all stonemasons are created equal! Alison talks about ensuring the stonemason is clear on the project and the joining to deliver different styles. Together, we explore the processes we follow when selecting stone so you have an idea of what to expect when you enter the showroom and decide on your style.
