In this episode, Cherise is joined by Mariam Issoufou, Founder and Principal at Mariam Issoufou Architects with offices in New York, Niamey, Niger, and Zurich. They discuss Gourmega – a socially minded supper club in Manhattan’s South Village Historic District in New York.
You can see the project here as you listen along.
Located on the ground floor of a landmarked 1883 building in Manhattan’s South Village Historic District, Gourmega reimagines a compact historic space as a flexible restaurant rooted in food, culture, and community. The site and overall design of Gourmega are directly informed by the historical and cultural significance locally in SOHO, as well as abroad in Africa.
