What if the reason you're questioning your dream isn't because it's wrong—but because it isn't unfolding the way you thought it would?
I've been building what is now becoming the MIND Method Academy for 11 years. And the vision I had 11 years ago looks almost nothing like what I'm creating today.
We rarely get to see the whole path ahead of us. But when reality doesn't match the picture we had in our minds, the Automatic Mind can quickly turn that uncertainty into evidence that we should stop, that we've failed, or that we simply don't have what it takes.
In this episode, I'm sharing what 11 years of building has taught me about staying committed to a vision while letting go of the belief that I should know exactly how it's supposed to unfold.
We'll explore:
What if the space between where you are and where you want to be isn't a sign that something has gone wrong?
Sometimes the void feels like struggle because you can't yet see what is being created. You're doing the work, changing internally, and yet nothing externally seems to be matching what you know is possible.
But what if the void isn't a period of struggle? What if it's a period of preparation?
In this episode, Joanna explores what happens when you can't see the whole picture yet—and why learning to navigate the unknown can be part of becoming the person who can actually hold what you're creating.
In this episode, you'll discover:
Reflection: Where in your life are you making the fact that you can't see the next step mean that something is wrong?
What if the period when your life feels like it's falling apart is actually the period when everything is coming together?
In this episode, I'm sharing my personal experience of navigating what I call the void—that uncomfortable space where you're doing the inner work, making changes, and moving toward the life you want, but nothing in your external world seems to reflect who you're becoming.
For years, I resisted this space. I couldn't see that the uncertainty I was experiencing was preparing me for the very life I was trying to create.
What if the void isn't a sign that something has gone wrong? What if it's preparing you to become the person capable of sustaining everything you're asking for?
We'll explore why your Automatic Mind interprets uncertainty as danger, how the MIND Method helps you navigate this period, and what becomes possible when you stop treating discomfort as evidence that you're on the wrong path.
Because sometimes the life you're asking for requires you to become someone you've never been before.
For decades, knowledge, expertise, and having the right answers were enormous professional advantages. But as AI makes information and answers increasingly accessible, something else becomes more important:
how we think when the answer isn't obvious. In this episode, I explore what happens when knowledge is no longer enough—and why our ability to recognize the patterns of the Automatic Mind may become one of the most important human capacities in the age of AI.
We'll look at the difference between operating from what you already know and developing the adaptive intelligence to respond to uncertainty, complexity, change, and situations for which there is no predetermined answer.
In this episode, you'll hear about:
• Why AI is changing the value of knowledge and expertise • How the Automatic Mind keeps us operating from what is already familiar • Why uncertainty exposes our deepest patterns • What adaptive intelligence looks like in leadership and life • Why the future may belong to people who can think beyond what they already know • The human capability AI cannot replace: consciously choosing who you are when the answer isn't obviousKnowing more got us here. Learning how to think differently may be what takes us forward.
Why do we try so hard to control what happens next—even when we know we can't?
In this episode, I'm breaking down one of the most powerful drivers of the automatic mind: our basic human needs.
We all have six fundamental needs, but the first four—certainty, variety, significance, and love and connection—are deeply connected to the patterns we develop to feel safe, secure, accepted, and in control.
The problem isn't that we have these needs. The problem begins when our automatic mind decides that one of them must be protected at all costs.
I'll show you how the need for certainty can turn into gripping and controlling, why uncertainty can feel so threatening even when nothing is actually wrong, and what changes when you stop trying to control the outcome and start intentionally choosing who you want to be in the middle of the unknown.
Because you don't have to control what happens next to intentionally create who you become next.
In this episode, you'll learn: • The six basic human needs and why they matter • How the automatic mind uses control to create emotional safety • Why certainty and predictability can quietly keep you stuck • The two human needs that can change everything • How to move from controlling the outcome to intentionally creating your response
What if the uncertainty you're feeling isn't a sign that something is going wrong—but simply what it feels like to be in the space between where you've been and where you're going?
In this episode, Joanna explores why our minds are so desperate to see the entire path before we're willing to trust where we're headed. Your automatic identity wants certainty. It wants proof. It wants to know exactly how everything is going to work out before you take the next step.
But life doesn't work that way.
Using the metaphor of a bridge that reveals itself as you walk it, Joanna shares how trying to predict and control the future can rob us of the peace, joy, and possibility available in our lives right now.
You'll learn why discomfort and uncertainty don't necessarily mean you're on the wrong path, how your Default Operating System keeps pulling you toward certainty and control, and what becomes possible when you stop demanding the whole bridge and begin trusting the next step.
You don't need to know exactly where everything is going.
You just need enough of the bridge to take the next step.
In this episode of the Dethroning Your Inner Critic podcast, Joanna Kleinman explores what it really takes to navigate uncertainty and step into a new chapter of your life. As she prepares to send her youngest daughter off to college while experiencing major changes in her own life and business, Joanna shares why our automatic mind often mistakes the unfamiliar for the unsafe.
Using the MIND Method, she explains how to recognize the predictions your mind makes, stop treating uncertainty as danger, and allow your Authentic Self to lead—even when you don't know what comes next.
Tune in to discover why you don't need certainty to trust yourself and how learning to hold the unknown can expand your capacity for courage, growth, and possibility.
