  • 128 - Andrew & Toby Mermagen - Part Two

In the market report this week an irritating spell of rain annoys Andrew as he disects the ups and downs of the market, where the mood has come down somewhat.

Andrew is excited to announce that after a dry spell in the office, we have had some wonderful beers kindly sent to us ready for trying in next weeks podcast.

This week in farm chat we are back with Toby Mermagen, this time talking all things potatoes and trust within the farming community.

In a long awaited farm chat this week, we have our first guest in months! Toby Mermagen of Alby Farming co. joins Andrew for a discussion about weather forecasting, planting conditions and harvest.

The two reminisce over their days spent together playing rugby and Toby tells us about his brief brush with covid. • 126 - Andrew & Webby - The Last Beers in the Building

This weeks market report has Andrew feeling positive about the coming months with an interest as to where the grain stores and wheat surplus will end up in the UK.

This week on farm chat Andrew and Webby look forward to finally being able to invite guests to the podcast as they engage in what is hopefully their final in-house only podcast for a while.

After a dramatic rally on Oil Seeds, the boys agree that they’ve never seen anything like it. But with the markets going through the roof and oil seed making money, they look forward to dry weather and a positive few months.

No farm chat is complete without a beer and so the boys put their feet up and enjoy a Hello Velo from Woldtop Brewery, the last beers in the building, as they once again count down to sunny pub garden days.

The market report this week is short and sweet as Andrew looks forward to an ‘I told you so moment’ following his predictions for the year.

In Farm chat the boys discuss the markets and take a look at the greater picture for 2021. With a goal for no innuendos and no beer this week the boys put on their grown up hats for a chat about supply and demand.

  • 123 - Webby Josh & Andrew - Rainy Days

After our first decent snow in Norfolk for years, Andrew revels in the joy that snow days bring to families before introducing a fascinating market report.

In farm chat the three boys discuss what they think this year holds for the trading industry and discussing how the weather may affect the crop by putting their ‘best case scenario’ hats on.

We catch up with Josh on his plans to ski and surf on the same day in Norfolk and Andrew lets us in on his wish for a volcanic eruption in East Anglia that leaves some skiable and sledable hills.

The beer of the week this week is Wild Card, a Blackberry Stout, from the Wildcraft Brewery, which unknown the boys before seconds of trying it was out of date! Washing it down with a Bishops Finger Ale instead, the boys cheers to a rainy week ahead.

Kicking things off this week we have another underlyingly optimistic market report, predicting a possible super cycle moment on prices .

Andrew is joined by Henry and Josh this week. In farm chat the boys take another guess on when the pubs are going to open, and have a little discussion about the state of the markets.

Engaging in a little brotherly ribbing, the three laugh as they look ahead to a covid-less future and discuss their plans to ski and surf in the Norfolk snow before making their Six Nations predictions.

  • 121- Andrew, Lily and Henry - A Family Affair

Yet another positive market report with the whole of 2021 so far seeing prices going up.

With lockdown yet to be over, this week Andrew calls on his daughter, Lily, to entertain. They discuss how the past year has been for teenagers in and out of school and whether or not heading off to university is the right idea, after failing to convince Lily that a career in grain trading is the best option.

With the worlds affairs still up in the air, Andrew gets Lily’s opinions on Trump, Anti-Vaxers and mental health, all whilst helping Andrew get to the bottom of how ‘woke’ he is.

To finish off this weeks episode, joining Andrew for a beer is Henry. Just as we thought the boys had never met a beer they didn’t like, the Nanobot Super Session IPA from Beavertown Brewery has them scratching their heads. Kindly gifted by David Wright, the two are thrilled with a free beer regardless.
