Stellar sequel

I had said, when I reviewed Strength, the first book in this series, that if book 2 was as good as book 1, Ms. Butler would be added to my very short will-pre-order-from author list. She made it. She definitely made it.

Courage continues the story where Strength left off. Rena and Wallace's relationship moves forward (Yes!), though not without some snags along the way--some very heart-twisting, tear-evoking snags. Alliances are tested, new dimensions of characters are brought out by circumstances, and ERA's plot advances as a seemingly unstoppable force. Caught in the middle of it all are Rena, Wallace, and new character Corynn Catley, whom I like a lot.

I can't tell you much more or I'll give too much away. But I can tell you that Corynn is a great addition to the cast and Cole redeems himself from his crimes in book 1. He hasn't stopped committing them (snicker), but he shows us a softer, likeable side when it comes to Rena.

Courage is a flawless read and such a perfect sequel to Strength, I can't wait for book 3! It easily earned 5 stars.

Iâm hooked on this series.

This installment picks up right where the first left off, a comforting feeling. All the characters I fell for in book one are back, though not all the same versions of themselves. We also get to meet some interesting new characters. While I didnât gush, swoon, or geekout over this one the way I did the first book, Iâm still hooked on the series, Rena, and Wallace.

What I liked:

Iâm still enjoying the realistic and nostalgic depiction of college life. I love how Rena continues to be a layered character, not all sweet and predictable, though sheâs not a difficult character to understand. I like the unsettling kindness and supportive role the psychotic twin, aka Cole, is currently filling, but I guess we find out more about him in the next book.

I also liked the introduction of Corynn and her part in pulling Rena and Wallace, both apart and closer together. I liked getting a closer look into the lives and families of Rena and Wallace.

What I had issues with, but still could appreciate:

The drama between girlfriends. An immature misunderstanding based on insecurities. Untold secrets revealed way too late. Breaking oneself down with unnecessary guilt over people who hurt you. These are just some of the themes that make this story hard to stomach, yet enhance it in ways that canât be fully described other than to say, it makes it feel more real.

Iâm not usually the type to get caught up on romantic issues, but this love story is one I can get behind. Iâm actually okay with the fact that the love story took on a greater role in this book.

Love Lacey Thorn

I enjoyed this book. I loved the way everyone worked together and had their part. I am disappointed in how it ended. I want more to the story, but that is the sign of a good story when you want to know more about the characters. Ms. Thorn is an awesome writer and I cannot wait to get my hands on more!!

Smexy but not a lot of story

The story here is very thin, I wish there could have been more world building. It is difficult in a short book but it would have really added to the story. This is also not really a part of any series, just a stand alone in a collection of books set in a Dystopian landscape.

This is not a romance, per se, it is more about the smexy time. There are feelings eluded too but way to soon to feel real. I will believe the lust and liking but not love, yet.

Holy smexy time!!! Seriously, things get uber hot quick. There is plenty of mixing and every man gets in on the action. Look out for group lovin and be ready for a cold shower after this book.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Audrey Lusk, who does a great job with the hot and heavy. She has a steady pace that keeps things moving. She adds plenty of energy to the steamy scenes, be prepared to fan your face a time or twenty. The men sounded very similar, but that is just nit picking.

I really hope to see more audiobooks from this publisher, Resplendence Publishing has some really interesting and smexy books!

Too predictable

The only good thing about this book was the performance by the actors who read it... there was not a single moment where I wonder what was going to happen?? The story was flat and too girly for my taste. I still don't understand why it says recommend for adults...this book read like a teenager fiction there was hardly any sexual scenes and when there was, description was lacking. Needles to say I will not be reading the next book on this series.

Wow, the narration and music were awesome!!! I loved it. I've never heard audio done like this.

It was a good story. Parts of it went fast, but I really liked it.

Mermaids

The story was different. Can't say if I really liked it or not. The one thing I did enjoy was the narration. I wish all audio books had the male voices for male parts and female voices for female parts. It really makes the book enjoyable. Worth a credit?? I can't say.

Hottest story of the series so far!

Where does Abandon the Night rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

It ranks near the top.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that we are getting more and more answers about why the change happened and who was behind it. The chemistry between Zoe and Quent is immediate, so the sex is hot from the start. Then they have to work on trusting each other enough to actually work together and possibly build a life together.

What about Sebastian Fieldss performance did you like?

I enjoyed how he was able to shift from an English accent or a female character's voice back to the narrator seamlessly. He was able to give each character a unique voice and personality.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I definitely wanted to keep going to find out what happened next.

Any additional comments?

If you object to strong language, you may want to avoid this book. However, I think the smart mouth fit with Zoe's personality.

Awesome Series - Great Narrator

In this book, the third in the series, we finally begin to understand the inner workings of the strangers, and who they are.

It turns out that the ring leader so to speak, is Quent's father. Once he discovers this, he wants nothing more than to hunt him down and kill him... well, aside from holding Zoe's arrows hostage so he can get a little time between the sheets with her!

This book was a little slower and harder to get into than the previous two - but once you get about halfway it picks up and the action returns. With this particular couple, I enjoyed the fact that Colleen switch it up a bit and sort of made Zoe the heroin, instead of all the books following the same stereotypical male hero.

Less action, but a huge addition to the storyline. Totally worth the read, as the next book is even better!

Hellfire and Hooch

This book was funny, sometimes scary and at all times interesting. The narrator does an excellent job giving each character in the story a unique voice. The writing alternates between the main characters, Clara, a lovesick teen and Bernie, her cousin and partner in crime. Because of Clara's crush on her silent movie idol, Beau, she unwittingly subjects them all to the machinations of a Demon. Throw in mobsters, zombies and tainted hooch and you have the makings for a huge disaster. I look forward to more works from this author.

So fun! I loved the humor!

Note: This book and its loosely tied-in sequel, Keys to the Coven, can each work just fine as stand alones.

Set in Falstaff, Arizona in the 1920s during Prohibition, the Woodsens run a speakeasy bar and also sell some of their surplus alcohol to others. Now a Chicago-based mob is trying to move in and run the alcohol trade. They will be surprised at how little pushing it takes to upset a witch. Meanwhile, the youngest of the Woodsen cousins, teen Clara, is desperate to save her beloved movie star Beau Beauregard. Shes willing to break some rules in the name of true love (or her first crush). Her older cousin, Bernard (Bernie) Benjamin, is just the guy to help her out, even if he has to be lured to the basement and tied to the center of a pentagram. Demons and zombies have never had so much fun as they will during the dance competition!

Once again, Vicky Loebel has given me something original and very funny. Theres a bit of sexy (though its pretty PG-13 for this book) as well. Clara is a driven character whos young enough to not know to look at the bigger picture when it comes to love, yet old enough to have just enough responsibility and autonomy to get into big trouble. Shes dead set on saving her beloved Beau even if he has no idea she exists (and thats because theyve never met). Shes even willing to become a warlock by summoning a demon and striking a bargain with it. Hans is the handsome demon that appears and somehow he talks things around so that his demon familiar, Ruth, will enter a dance contest.

Wow! What a ride so far!

This story has everything you need, Supernatural, drama, suspense, danger, humor and sexy steamy bits with yummy Andrew ;)

This is a story that at 3AM I was still sitting up reading as the chapters became available before it was published.

It's a story I can promise you will get sucked into, and become attached to the people in DTB.

Jess has an amazing gift of making you feel like your in the story with everyone, that you are watching all this play out first hand, not just a story on the pages.

With each new chapter from Jess, whether it's from Dead to Bites or the Bella Notte series, Jess always seems to improve, making each step better then the last :)

Only negative I could ever have would be that it causes lack of sleep due to not being able to put it down ;)

Dead to Bites

Dead to Bites by Jesse Kimmel-Freeman was an ass kick'n, steaming hot, love triangle, war battling awesome book!

Jesse hits it good and hard with the sizzling erotica seines. I love a book where the female is a hero with "balls". To often when I pick up a supernatural book the male is vampire (which was in this book) but the female (who is normally human) is weak and whiny. This is not true with the leading female Kat. She is ass kicking awesome! This book has it all; mystery, sex, love, war, death, and all the different kinds of supernatural creatures you could ask for.

Now to the book bits, Jesse did very well in describing people and locations so it can be easily visualized. She put great detail in not only the description but also the emotions behind what this story is unfolding. When Kat hurt you hurt for her, when she was confused you could relate to it, and when she was loved you know she was loved.

I was giving this book by the author for a review; I will be going back for the other books in this series.

King of the isles

I loved the heroine she was a strong independent woman who never lost site of protecting those she cared about. The hero was a jerk. I enjoyed this story and the series I would recommend it to everyone.

Third and Super book in a great series

The Gangs all here! I love when books in a series include previous characters and this book does that in spades! This is a wonderful book. I highly recommend the entire series.

Narration is way better in this book than in the first...i guess since there is no American accent in this book.

The end is a bit peculiar. While it is good...i felt like we were owed more. It was joyful, ominous, and unfinished all at the same time. I almost wonder if we may see a new book in the series later on.

Venice Vampyr 3

It was great to be back with my favorite author Tina Folsom!! The 3rd installment of the Venice Vampyr series follows Lorenzo. The self proclaimed playboy and friends of Dante and Stephan from previous books. One night while settling into his new home he finds a pleasant surprise by the name of Bianca waiting in his bed chambers. He thinks its a housewarming gift from his buddies and is very grateful. Whats an aroused Vampire to do???Rock her world thats what!! Bianca just found out that her estranged father has passed and leaves her his house and all off his debt. Then a mysterious man(Lorenzo) absolves the debt of her father and takes the house as payment. For Bianca no love is lost between her and her father so she has come back to Venice for one reason and one reason only...to claim the treasure her father once told her about when she was little that should be enough to start a new life for herself. When she meets Lorenzo he begins to be more tempting than any treasure she can think of.

Lorenzo is not one to trust humans...since he was betrayed by a lover once. But when he meets Bianca she stirs something in him that he thought was dead a long time. Bianca is no innocent...she's a courtesan trained to give men pleasure and this treasure of her fathers can give her a fresh start so that she can be her own master. What starts out as a quest for her own independence turns into the finding the one true person that loves and cherishes her like no other!

This was filled with lotsa emotion and scorching hot sex and I loved every second of it. I really connected with Lorenzo and Bianca and it was nice seeing old friends like Dante and Raphael and their wives Bella and Viola! I've never found a Tina Folsom book that I haven't liked yet and I know there will never be!! 5 Stars!!!

Smoking hot read!

Tina Folsom masters the art of erotica romance. This novella was scorching hot, burning up my kindle and my panties :)

Her vampyrs are to die for and the stories are so enjoyable..

I wanted to read Lorenzo's story since first meeting him. Tina delivered with his story for sure. This novella brings us more into the Venice vampyr world Tina created. We get more detail on the Guardians of the Holy Waters. We also get introduced to more of the vampyrs. I really hope this series will continue. I love it.

I found it very refreshing that Tina wrote a character like Bianca. Bianca wasn't all perfect. She had flaws and that is what connected me to her.

An Unusual Tale.

This book was a real surprise! Nagle writes about the Aelven, another term for Elves. Her Elves are immortal, possess unusual gifts, and are not a prolific race. They hide from humans, and resist relationships with humans because humans will age and die. The Aelven won't. Their main problem is a disease which turns those afflicted into vampire-like creatures who only exist on blood. Our main human character, Lenore, known unfortunately as "Len," (what human girl ever deserved that nickname?). Naturally, she becomes immediately obsessed by the Aelven she meets at the campus library where she and her best friend work. The immediate attraction must be another Elven gift; they're very handsome creatures, but I did find Len's obsession surprising. Their relationship came about too fast for my comfort, but maybe the Aelven really are that irresistible.

I found the story complex, and the characters just as complex. The northern New Mexico setting is an important part of the story too, with the Aelven curandero fascinating and appealing on so many levels. This is a unique story, not the usual run of the mill story of Elves and vampires. I couldn't put it down!

SO ready for the next one!

With action, romance, fantasy and a little mystery, this book was a fun read that I could hardly set down. It is light reading, so just right for an afternoon to kick back and relax.

The characters immediately invite you to believe they are real and take them into your heart. Len is just perfect as the main character, if Caeran is a little too perfect as the romantic interest. I am curious to find out why the immortals are so taken by Len's music... next, please?

The characters are fine

The heroine is a young college student. Thankfully, she isn't a Bella-character and she helps out and does stuff. When she is rejected, she doesn't try to kill herself. All these things are good.

The story was good. There were a few things I would have liked to be explained that weren't, but overall it was good.

I would call this more of a Romance than a Fantasy or Paranormal.

What did you love best about Desperate Housewives of Olympus?

First I have to say I listened to "Ride of the Darkyrie" which was an amazing par-normal novel. Since I enjoy Hollie Jackson's narrations on many books I had a feeling these would be exceptional. I wasn't wrong. Desperate Housewives of Olympus was FUNNY, Thought provoking, and really put a spin on those crazy Olympians. I think those goddess were really just waiting for a chance to push their way past those bossy gods.......

What other book might you compare Desperate Housewives of Olympus to and why?

Can't really compare to another book but maybe another author. A cross between Molly Harper and Charlaine Harris. If you enjoy either of these authors I think you'll enjoy Saranna DeWylde.

Which scene was your favorite?

One of my favorites and there are many, is when Abstinence is first visited by Zeus. I laughed out loud.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Lots of catharsis for many of the characters and many laughs as well.I like the fact that the characters do actually learn something about themselves and maybe grow a bit.

Any additional comments?

I'm looking forward to listening to more of these stories. Saranna DeWylde has a flair for writing humor and story lines that really are quite useful when you realize even the "gods" have relationship problems.

OHH THE DRAMA OF BEING A GODDESS

The Desperate Housewives of Olympus is probably exactly as you would imagine a book with this title to be about. It is filled with back-stabbing friends, cheating spouses and drama that fills the streets of Ambrosia Lane. Author Saranna DeWylde, provides a hilarious outlook on what really happens on Mt. Olympus.

The story is about Hera, Abstinence, Nyx, Demeter, and Persephone. Hera is finally tired of Zeus philandering way and decides it is time to teach an old god a new trick. Since Hades has finally released Persephone from the curse, he is alone again. Hera decides to take this chance to get her groove back within none other but mister tall dark and gloomy. But something that turned out to be a plot for revenge because something more.

Abstinence is the new goddess on Ambrosia Lane and immediately, Zeus sets his eyes and wanderlust upon the goddess.
