    Title: Altered Destiny
    Author: Shawna Thomas
    Narrator: Uma Incrocci
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 56 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-19-11
    Publisher: Carina Press
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 95 votes
    Genres: Romance, Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Selia has run her family's tavern since she was 15 and can hunt and fight as the equal of any male. When she rescues a badly wounded man and nurses him back to health, she has no idea she's about to change not only her life, but also the destinies of two peoples.
The battered warrior is a Svistra - a race of bloodthirsty savages determined to destroy her homeland. Or so the stories claim. Jaden reveals a different truth: how his ancestors were driven into the barren northern mountains. Now they are strong, and war parties are pushing south, wanting their land back.
The son of a Svistra commander, Jaden is looking for a way to bring peace to both humans and Svistrans. He tries to ignore his growing passion for Selia, but when she is captured, he has to decide what he would be willing to sacrifice to save the woman he loves.

    Wow! It was perfect!
Its been a while since my last good fantasy book. I absolutely loved it. Action, the story kept moving, violence, drama, good vs. evil, and love. Really well written. I get bored easily when authors drone on and on and stay in the same place on the same problem where I just want to smack a character. Not one instance of that in this one! I didnt 5 star the performance since Uma sometimes gets monotone on the non-speaking parts but there were great differences in the characters voices, you always know whos talking.
I'd definately "read" another Shawna Thomas book.
    Pure fantasy ..... but I wasn't dissappointed
This was a real surprise of a book, I bought it before any reviews were made and so I took a chance and I'm so glad I did.
It had a really unusual storyline built around two likeable characters - Selia - a human and a barkeeper and Jaden who is a Svistra and a blood drinker. The two races hate each other but after she saves him they are drawn together despite their differences. It's set in a fantasy world where there are many Kings ruling fueding lands and they all want the same piece!! It has love, hate, good guys vs bad guys, a steadily moving forward storyline and a good narrator so what more do you want!
I really enjoyed this book, it was well worth the credit.
engaging YA "vampire" tale in high fantasy setting
A satisfying twist on the vampire tale. The setting is what I'd call "high fantasy" - horses, swords, castles, inns, tankards of ale, etc. The vampires in question are the Svistra, a race that lives alongside humans geographically, and a war is in progress over the disputed lands. The story is more of a civil war between hated enemies than human versus monster or supernatural beast, as the Svistra are intelligent and not so gifted that they are unbeatable. I liked the main character Selia. She was practical, stubborn, plucky, and moral but not overly gorgeous, sexy, or emotional. She stands up for herself and those she cares about, buckles on a sword, and takes care of business. While there is some cliche in her finding and nursing the one Svistra "prince" that would try to stop war with the humans and falling in love with him despite the racial taboos, the storyline was handled in a mostly believable and deft way. The romance was mostly understated and PG-13. There is violence and blood in the battle scenes, but in a fantasy way not a horror way. The book seemed YA age appropriate, and was a welcome relief from the overt emotional angst of most YA romances.

    Title: The Vampire Dimitri
Subtitle: A Book of the Regency Draculia
    Author: Colleen Gleason
    Narrator: Victor Villar-Hauser
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 12 hrs and 12 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-01-11
    Publisher: Harlequin Books S.A.
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 43 votes
    Genres: Romance, Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Regency London loves a society wedding - even if there are vampires on the guest list.
Dimitri, also known as the Earl of Corvindale, should be delighted that the headstrong Maia Woodmore is getting married. His mortal ward and houseguest has annoyed - and bewitched - the Dracule nobleman too long, and denying his animal cravings grows more excruciating by the day.
Miss Woodmores family has a rather complicated history with the immortals, and she herself possesses a keen sensibility far beyond mere womens intuition. Marriage will give her safety, respectability, and everything else a proper young lady could wish for. Everything, that is, except passion.
In the looming battle between Dracule factions, all pretenses will shatter as Maia and Dimitri come together in an unholy union of danger, desperation, and fiercest desire.

    terrible narrator
    Any additional comments?
Apparently reading with a British accent causes you to breath twice as often as normal. Someone should have informed the narrator that you breath at periods and commas, not after every other word. I felt light headed just listening to him hyperventilate. I have no idea if this is a good story, I couldn't understand what was being said in the first half. Also, this is clearly the second or third book in the series, the writer introduces characters and plots that are continuations from other books. I had no idea what was going on and couldn't follow who was who. Check the author's website to find out which book comes first.
    Loved it.
I absolutely LOVE the way this book starts out.
It's not very often that you get the chance to read the same scene from different character perspectives. In Lucifer's Saint, the first half of the book follows the same story as it's predecessor, Lucifer's Rogue, only from Dimitri and Maia's point of view. It fills in more of the missing story and explains what happened when Voss and Angelia were not around, which in turn created a much bigger picture! I found myself stopping and thinking back, so that's why she was so angry when... or that explains the look they exchanged...
Around the halfway mark ends the storyline from the first book and begins it's own unique story. Angelica and Maia both planning their weddings, their brother off to help Narcise, and of course Dimitri, or rather the always ill-tempered Earl of Corvindale, was well, ill-tempered.
It wasn't until a face from his past reappeared that he started the realize his carefully constructed armor was beginning to crack.
As always, Colleen packed in the sarcasm and action, creating another page turner!

    Sorry try again
Not a good choice for narrator; his voice is way too soft spoken and meek therefore, not appropriate/aggressive enough for a vampire book. This made the book pretty boring to include the lusty and fighting/violent scenes.
    I LOVE Colleen Gleason
It's no secret that Colleen Gleason is my favorite author. In fact, the Gardella Vampire Chronicles is by far my favorite book series. So it's no surprise that I loved Lucifer's Rogue as well!
Voss reminds me quite a bit of Sebastian, and since he was my favorite character in GVC, of course I fancy Voss. He's charming, attractive, and quite selfish. He's smitten with Angelica, but that doesn't change his personality like many romance stories go... no, he continues to do what he wants, use her for information to keep himself a step ahead of the rest, as well as playing pranks on poor grumpy Dimitri. He does try his best to keep her safe, even from himself.
Angelica has a few surprises of her own. A strong minded woman in that time period was a rare thing, and I enjoyed reading from her perspective.
I love the twist on Vampire lore; each having a special affliction. It adds a dimension to the storyline that other paranormal plots lack.
Colleen's writing is the only regency period books that I've ever enjoyed, and the fact that they are my favorites says a lot. She just has a way with words. Another thing I love about her writing style is the way she seamlessly switches between character pov's. There are many books that have frustrated me, some I couldn't even finish, because it's hard to follow or just flat out annoying to read from an unimportant character's pov. But Colleen's transitions are perfect and when it switches you aren't confused about who it is, or where the story picks up.
I'm excited to start the second book in the series
    The narrator needs to go!
Unfortunately, I couldn't get far enough into the book to determine if the story itself was worth reading. The narrator just ruined the book for me. There are good narrators, excellent narrators, and then there is this narrator, who just was reading words with no excitement. Save your money.
    Narrator voice
I listen while driving to work and his voice drops in pitch so often that I miss half of what hes saying. It doesnt work if you are driving and its raining or any other noise occurs. I dont know what happened in first few chapters. I gave up.

    Fantastic!!
I love when I find a new author and enjoy the book so much that I will be listening to other books by same author. Looking forward to listening to this author in the future.
    Boooring!
This book was very bland and run of the mill, with like a million uninteresting characters and a silly blend of romance tropes that made me laugh like crazy.
Aidan is a Fae Lord pirate turned corporate raider. *snorts*. He's lived more than 1,000 years but when he finds the "only woman he's ever loved", he's too busy with other stuff and lets her go without a fight. Elise is also supposedly deeply in love but doesn't try to work with Aidan on their issues. Neither ever mentions their feelings to the other so each is left with the thought that the other doesn't love them.
As you can see, neither character acts as if they are really in love. If you really love a person, you don't give up at the first opportunity!
Most of the plot was spent rehashing what happened in the first book and introducing so many characters that it was impossible to determine who was who. The seemingly insurmountable problems that separated these two in the first place weren't even an issue so that tells you that if only they had talked a bit, everything could have been avoided.
The murky issue of Dina's paternity is the author's way of having a secret baby plot without blaming Elise. All I can say is that it didn't work.
The narration was good. I'll listen to another book narrated by Gabra Zackman but definitely not continuing this series.
    Horrible
First off let me say this book was so bad I couldn't finish it. The author sets the main character (Elise) up as being the most loving mother ever. But after a few sexual encounters with a former love, Elise forgets she is trying to recover her kidnapped child and is only concerned about her love interest. I realize there should be suspension of disbelief for the reader, but that is going to far. This storyline stinks so bad I can smell it from here.
    Paranormal Romance and Adventure
This popped up as a sale item and it was only when I was about halfway through it I realised it was the second book in a series. Having said that, I was at no time lost when listening to it - there are some nice summaries of what has gone on before when introducing us to characters from the first book. I probably won't listen to the first as I know what has gone on, but I'm popping the next one on my wish list as I enjoyed Cindy Pape's writing.

    Touch of Surrender
Awful! Both the story and reader. I love werewolf and vampire storis and enjoy a little romance added in to them. But, I could not even finish this book. This story is for the person who just wants back to back graphic sex scenes. You get about 2 minutes of story, then 10 minutes of sex. Again, 2 minutes of story and 10 minutes of sex just slightly different to the 20 times before. The sex really interferred with the story. It got to when I started hearing the all too predictable sex scene coming up, I found myself yelling, "Oh, come on! Not again!" I tried several times going back to the story, but it was the same thing. The reader's accents are horrific, too!!! I will never read another story by this author and will make sure I do not get any more books read by this reader.
    Story line good
story was ok, but narration could have been better-she was not the right voice for the job.
Might try one more with her as the narrator and hope she does better.
    clever story
I thought the story line was very clever. There is nothing normal or predictable about this story. I'm ready for the next one....

    DEMON SLAYERS
this is a very good book and well worth the money. the narrator is absolutly wonderful
    Demon intregue
I liked this story and the narrator is as usual good.
The only gripe is that the identity of the worm was evident when his real identity was revealed.
I like this book and look forward to book two FORGED OF SHADOWS being made into an audio book. The male lead is typical of such books, so lost in his own world and self centered superiority he cant see what's in front of his nose until he loses it . .
    well worth the money/credit
    enjoy
Get ready for good and evil to collide.
If you could sum up Seduced by Shadows in three words, what would they be?
    Good book overall.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Seduced by Shadows?
At the end when she saved herself and Archer in the demon realm. She wouldn't let Archer go and loved him enough to make him stay with her even tho she know it would mean he would still be possesed with his demon. She defied all warrnings but still did her own thing.
She was stuborn but knew what she wanted and wouldn't let things just be the way they always had been. Being the only woman posessed she was going to show the men the way things should be and was going to change at least her future.
What three words best describe Renée Raudmans voice?
    She was ok.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I liked the story line. We all have demons and we all have to fight them but some of us have harder and stronger demons.
    Any additional comments?
Wasn't quite sure what Rennn was trying to do with Archers voice. Most of the voices she depicted were good but I didn't like the way she did Archer. It made him sound......hmmm, I'm not sure what it made him sound like but I didn't really care for it.
    Good book
I liked both this book and the narrator. I agree that it does have a complex demon realm to get used to but I still think it's worth the credit. It also had enough romance to keep my interest.
    Huh?
Stroy was hard to follow, but craetive. Found myself rewinding a lot to figure out what was going on. Nerrorator was good.

    Excellent!!!!!!!
Enjoyed the drama and including characters from previous book. This series could use a male and female reading this book.
    The Merrick/Casus Story Continues
In book 2, we learn more about the casus and get introduced to Royce and Gregory. Sage Buchanan, Ian's sister, is aware and accepts her Merrick. And thankfully, there is a lot less angst over her destiny, unlike book 1. (In my opinion, Ian wrestled a little too long with his destiny.) However, even though Ms. Byrd's writing style is intense and emotional, I never really bought the attraction between Sage and Quinn. The sizzling passion and sexual tension that was in book 1, wasn't evident here. Quinn's excuse for why he could not be with Sage was a bit lame, and at times their sparring felt forced. Still, I will likely read book 3, which gets released in June. And I will hope the suthor adds more of her sizzling passion to the next book.
If I could give zero stars....
Horribly written, full of cliches. Absolute garbage. Badly read too. The narrator should NOT read books involving men's voices. When someone is described as DRAWLING a gravelly grouchy voice is not what is being called for. The whole book is ridiculous in its seriousness. We are to believe that immediately upon spotting someone you have never spoken to but are being sent to collect that you would immediately jump into "carnal" thoughts. And I don't use that word as a prude, it's seriously used through the book as a description. Ridiculous. I don't care about the characters one iota. The heroine is stupid and stubborn, the hero is grouchy and stubborn... woo woo. Fun times. So glad I bought this on sale 3 books for 2 credits. I consider this the FREE book. What a waste of time.

I really hated this story. The storyline was thin and both the hero and the heroine were just stupid. There was lots of violence and the heroine kept running away from get needed help. It was a total waste of my time and money.

    Short But Sweet!!!
I love coming a cross a great new series, and the first book in the "Venom" series did not disappoint. It was a great introduction into this world with vampires, shape shifters, and even gargoyles.
The characters were very likable; especially the members of the band! I can't wait to listen to the other stories to see how these characters develop.
One thing I really loved about this story is you get the POV from both the lead female and male characters and it's not just one person's point of view. I love stories that give more than one POV.
This is the first book I listened to narrated by Meghan Kelly, and thought she did a wonderful job. I will certainly be on the lookout for other books she narrates.
The only negative for me, and it's more of a preference, this series may be more of a YA, which is usually not my first pick.
Note: I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own and I was not obligated to post a positive review or feedback.
