Today we are talking about hunting plants in the Great Basin Desert of the American West. I love taking my truck and driving around this desert where you rarely see other people, and being alone where I can really think and study many of the unique plants found out here. You can find plants that contain flavonoids, which are a class of molecules that have a lot of oxygen around them, and when you look at the scientific literature on flavonoids, they’re really good regulators of biosignaling. There are various plants in the West that have amazing attributes, which have been shown to provide positive benefits to people throughout history.

“Of those 600,000 species of plants on the Earth, less than 5% of them have been studied for their bioactive compounds, and that’s particularly true, the understudy of bioactive compounds in plants in the Great Basin Desert.” 3:07
