The ever increasing federal debt continuous to dominate the political scene as well as the minds of our politicians. The Obama care is also being challenge as possibly could contribute to the deficit and the government is trying to find ways of cutting the deficit. There are many so called deficit reduction programs being considered in both aisles of the political system, both Democrats and Republicans. We have never been so divided in history as now. But yet, are we really looking at the right solution to our financial problems? We cannot just cut costs at the expense of certain sector of our society. We should adopt a preventative healthcare system that is truly preventative in that it will address the causes of illnesse at its roots, not just elimnating the symptom or manifestation. Acupuncture and other complementary medical practices like hypnotherapy, offers a true preventative approach. This will in the long run not only help cure illnesses, but also make the population healthier, happier and more productive. This is one of the best ways to improve our econmy by making people healthier. This will result in increase productivity, improvement in lifestyle, improving the mental health and outlook of our people and create a more peaceful society. In todays program, I mentioned the different uses of acupuncture, especially in a hospital setting. In order to understand more of my concepts in acupuncture energetics, you can read more about it in my book, “The Body’s Acupuncture Energetics” at xlibris.com. Remember, “The health of the nation depends on the health of its population”.

This is Dr. Henry, bringing you another discussion on the need to fix our healthcare system by emphasizing personal responsibility. Our country is at a crossroad, either we continue to prosper and lead the world or we are going to collapse as a nation. I cannot over emphasize the dire need for changes in our healthcare system. But we should not only look at the government nor the private business as the solution to our problems. We have to realize that personal responsibility counts a lot. We should know our bodies, know the things that break us down and also know how to take care of our bodies. If you want to know more about these three things, then read my book, “The Body’s Acupuncture Energetics”. It has nothing to do with doing acupuncture treatments, but has something to do with knowing the different body energies that control us and utilizing these energies to help us stay healthy and heal in illness. You can access the book at www.bodysacuenergetics.com or at www.xlibris.com. We should also bring in other Complementary Medical approaches to treating illnesses, such as acupuncture, hypnotherapy, massage therapy, homeopathy, reflexology, chiropractic manipulation and others. I call this Complementary and Integrative Medicine (CIM), as many people have called it, and not Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) as it is commonly known. We cannot just depend on Traditional Medicine to cure us. But most of all, we should take personal responsibility of our own health by avoiding habits that can only make us sick, especially, smoking, drinking alcohol, drugs, too much inactivity, overeating and others. Let us help our country get out of the $14.5 trillion deficit. Now that the Iraq war has ended, then perhaps the decrease in military spending coupled with the decrease in Medicare and Medical Assistance spending should help bring down the deficit. This may not be enough though, and we should do our part to keep ourselves and our family healthy. We may have to secure also the future of medical care in our country. So, if you want to know more, please listen to my web radio talk and read my book. My book would be a good gift during the holidays, as this is a small price to help guarantee the future of your body as well as that of your family. Remember, the health of the nation depends on the health of its population.

The “Health of the Nation depends on the health of its population”. This I strongly believe that is why I decided to talk to a member of Congress, Congressman Glenn Thompson. Health is every one’s business, and our health affects many people. If we are healthy, then we are able to perform our jobs just as when we are sick, then other people will have to pick up the slack. It is even worse if the government will have to spend money in order to treat our illness. This is one of the reasons I wrote my book, “The Body’s Acupuncture Energetics”. The book has nothing to do with acupuncture needling, but teaching people how the different systems in our body functions, knowing the different energies that control our body, as well as how to protect ourselves from illnesses early on. I also mentioned my different principle that allows people to read their bodies as well as treat their illnesses in its early stage. By knowing how to handle our body during health and illness, then we should help decrease the healthcare expenditure in our country. This is personal responsibility. You can access my book at www. bodysacuenergetics.com or at www.xlibris.com.
The role of the government in healthcare is obviously tremendous. People expect the government to provide healthcare, but at the same time, they want the government to stay away from controlling them. It is a difficult question to ponder in as much as there are so many varied opinions on this matter. We can only hope that we can get some majority consensus acceptable to most people and that we will honor and respect that consensus. I had the honor of discussing this topic of government in healthcare with Congressman Glenn Thompson, who is the co-chairman of the Congressional Healthcare Caucus. He is a strong advocate for increased access, affordability, quality of care and patient choice in healthcare. I can only hope and pray that this discussion will enlighten the listeners and help shape up the consensus in order to come up with a meaningful healthcare policy in our country.

This I strongly believe and it is one of the reasons that I am hosting the show, “Divergence in Healthcare”. In this week’s show, I will try to explore the future of long term health care and the future of nursing homes. According to various estimates, the cost of nursing home care ranges from the AARP’s estimate of $50,000 per year to the estimate made by Dr. Judy Feder (Georgetown University policy professor and long term care expert) of about $80,000 per year. This, along with the current unemployment rate of about 9%, with a national poverty rate of 15%, the lack of savings by many people as well as the start of the 75M baby boomer’s retirement, paints a very grim picture for our aging population. The baby boomer population constitutes 25% of the U.S. population and they are all retiring between the years of 2011 and 2029, when the economy is in a downturn and the federal deficit is more than $14T and growing at a rate of approximately $1T per year. This is worsened by the exportation of jobs and companies overseas. Poor health and habits of the population, high rate of substance abuse, increasing dependency on government help has made things worse. The worldwide economic problems especially with the impending bankruptcy facing the nations of Greece, Spain and Italy, the war on terror, turmoil in the Arab world, financial troubles facing many states in the U.S., especially, California, Illinois and New Jersey have not helped our situation. The threat of earthquakes in California, and the East Coast (especially with the drilling of the Marcellus shale), tornadoes, hurricanes and storms and other calamities due to climate changes brought about by our continued use of oil, gas and coal for fuel has the predictions of gloom and doom ever a reality. All these happenings point to nothing but the threat of the end of the United States as we know of, or the entire world.

The state of our healthcare system continues to be in the minds of many people. The ever increasing budget deficit is adversely affecting healthcare, both in the federal and state level. The continued increase in healthcare expenditure, especially with the many baby boomers that will soon enter in the Medicare roster, will put more strain on the federal deficit. It is up to the citizenry to help find the solution to the problem. We cannot continue the way we are, heading to disaster, and expect the government to bail us all out. One key way that each of us can do to help bring down the budget deficit is to make sure that we maintain our own good health and avoid harmful habits. Foremost of these harmful habits are smoking, excessive alcohol use and illegal drug use. These three habits have no health benefits and have contributed to cancer, chronic illnesses and premature deaths. They are responsible for the majority of our healthcare expenditure and are preventable. So, I will continue to explore this relationship between the general health of the population and its impact on the national budget, and get the pulse of the nation regarding this very important topic. If you want to know more about some of my ideas about healthcare, then read my book, “The Body’s Acupuncture Energetics”. You can get the book at www.bodysacuenergetics.com or at Xlibris.com. In this week’s show, I will continue to interview regular people in order to get a sense of how the masses perceive our healthcare situation. With the ever increasing budget deficit, it is important that we get a sense as to how ordinary people perceive the healthcare system, its problems and the role of the people and the government in finding a solution to our problems. In the weeks ahead, we will have guests from all walks of life, the businessmen, healthcare providers to politicians and lawmakers. It is important that not only the the people will be aware of our increasing healthcare problems, but also that our lawmakers will know what peoples thoughts are. This may in a way guide our lawmakers in promulgating a more sensible approach to our healthcare problems. I have written a book to help people improve their health, entitled, “The Body’s Acupuncture Energetics”. You can preview the book at Xlibris.com or at www.bodysacuenergetics.com. You can also preview them at Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com. If you have any comments to my show, you can write me a letter at P.O. Box 167, DuBois PA 15801.

The ever increasing healthcare problem is n the minds of many people, including the young generation. It is important that the young people of today be included in the discussion about healthcare. It is probably the young who will be most affected by this problem. Will affordable healthcare be available for me and my future family? This is a question that a lot of us hasn’t really dealt with. It is important that we listen to what the young are thinking today and what they think should be done. In the process of this discussion, I hope that the young will likewise be educated in the healthcare process and be a part of the solution to this impending crisis. If people wants to improve their health in order to help in this healthcare problem, you can read my book entitled, Divergence in Healthcare. This book is available at Xlibris.com or at www.bodysacuenergetics.com. If you want to send me a letter, please address it to:
