In this episode, Milton speaks with R. Karl Hebenstreit, an author, keynote speaker, a certified Enneagram coach and organizational development practitioner. Karl discusses how he realized that the Enneagram–which he learned during his PhD studies in Organizational Psychology–could be used as a model for business applications, from team building to conflict resolution. This eventually led to his book, “The How and Why: Taking Care of Business with the Enneagram,” which provides practical tips, tools and techniques to apply the Enneagram to all challenges. He then extracted from the chapter on decision-making to a children’s book, “Nina & The Really, Really Tough Decision.” Karl shares how this book–that is available in four languages–introduces children to the Enneagram to help them understand that there is diversity in perspectives in the world and why it’s important to know each of these nine perspectives, their drivers, motivations and gifts that they bring.

In this episode, Milton breaks down each Enneagram type to help us learn how to live now. We are not promised tomorrow, and the Enneagram types have a certain way of making us wait to live life. Everyone has a divine gift and a divine purpose that the world’s need, and when you don’t do your inner work, the world misses out. Milton focuses on how the ego structures can truly take us away from being able to live in a way that’s holistic, liberating and transformational.

In this episode, Milton discusses the need to submit or relax your dominant instinct while working in groups. Some of the inner work that we do has to be done in a community setting, and during a trip in Egypt, Milton realized that his self-preservation instinct doesn’t play well in this. He draws from his personal experience to share how this can get in the way. He also talks about what happens with the other instincts in groups and what can be beneficial for you.
