Do "This" to Fall in Love - A special Love Letters Series Part 1

Listen Later

In celebration of Valentine’s Day this week’s episode is the first of a special three-part series called ‘Do ‘this’ to Fall in Love.  Jane and Wendy will each be answering a series of questions that are touted as a fast track to falling in love. Despite the fact that they feel they make terrible test subjects - since they already adore each other - they thought it would be fun and informative all the same.

Wendy’s Takeaway

  • Hearing Jane’s life story that only part of was known
  • Connection and emotional intimacy take time and effort. It can be uncomfortable but the results far outweigh anything that is less desirable.

Jane’s Takeaway

  • This has cemented that relationship between how mutual vulnerability fosters closeness and connectedness, and to get there it needs to be ‘sustained, escalating, reciprocal and full of personal self-disclosure.’
  • The murky stuff.  She’s decided that wading through the muddy waters is so rewarding.

Here are this week’s questions:

  1. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
  2. Would you like to be famous? In what way?
  3. Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?
  4. What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?
  5. When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?
  6. If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?
  7. Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?
  8. Name three things you and your partner appear to have in common.
  9. For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
  10. If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?
  11. Take four minutes and tell your partner your life story in as much detail as possible.
  12.  If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

What is a love letter?

It is a letter, a text, a poem, a direct message, a drawing, a voice message, a watercolor, a recipe, a cup of tea, a smile, a home-baked meal delivered.  It's anything that connects us and makes us feel all those messy emotions, that without life would be pretty beige.
