Doopy Brothers Podcast

In this special episode, we got to interview Charlie Lyon, pool goalkeeper that assisted the Union earlier this season. It was really cool to chat with Charlie in our first ever interview episode, he went through his path to professional soccer and the unique position of being a pool goalkeeper in MLS. He shared what he took away from his brief time with the Union and the connections that he made. Charlie is an awesome dude and we are so grateful that we got to talk to him.

Shortly after AJ's silly soccer rule changes broke the internet (I know they didn't... but c'mon, just humor him) we jump back in the studio to record another episode, this one recapping the first half of the season as well as what we are looking for in the second half. And there are actual games coming up! We preview the Revs and NYCFC games coming up this week and give our takes on what we might see from the U.

It's been a while since the Union have had a regular season game and ten whole days since the Doopy Brothers stumble through a podcast episode. We dust off the ol' mics and let rip an episode that timed perfectly with the Andrew Wooten (!!) official announcement. The second segment gets weird with some proposed rule changes to the game that AJ has thought up, they're... interesting. A fun episode to say the least.

After a rough first half, the Union pulled off one of the most memorable comeback wins in team history. We dive into all things regarding the cheat code/magician/God that is Ilsinho as well as the other 10 players that watched him win this game for us. It was such a fun night and I think it made for a fun episode. DOOP!

After an epic trip up to Minnesota, we recap a soccer packed weekend that ending in the best way possible. The Union did not disappoint us as they beat Minnesota United in dramatic fashion. From Trusty's smooth winner, Sergio's season topping performance, we try to cover nearly as much ground in this episode as it too to get up to the Twin Cities.

It's been a while since we've had to talk about a loss. The Timbers show why the counter attack is such a threat to us and we try to break down just what happened in the game this past Memorial Day weekend and, while it was a bummer, we still believe in this team.

Who knew anyone could talk about a zero-zero draw for as long as we did in this episode? From the bunkering to the lack of finishing, we cover all the frustrating (and not so frustrating) points from the tie with the Sounders. There is even a little slightly heated debate over how Marco Fabian ranks on this team and then we get into our personal Philadelphia Union player rankings.

After a statement win from the Union up north, we discuss... puppies and Charlie Lyon... and also all the Union topics that you've come to expect from us. The Union gritted out three points and remain top of the east and it feels so good. Other than the Toronto game, we cover the U20 call-ups, say goodbye to a couple Union players and welcome another, along with a preview of the Seattle game this coming Saturday.

2 game + 6 points = 1 mediocre podcast episode. Just kidding, we crushed it. In this packed episode we go over both Union wins, Curtin’s shrewd tactical moves, and all of the many goals that have kept our team on the top of the East. We even get into some Steel discussion.
