Hospitals and Emergency Departments throughout the nation are reporting significant delays from staff shortages.

Labour have introduced a workforce action plan to recruit more workers and National today announced they would set up a medical program at Waikato University to boost placements.

General Practice New Zealand Chair Dr Bryan Betty says there's strain across all sectors of the health system, with a third of GPs unable to take on patients.
