Drivetime with DeRusha

Monday 5pm Hour: Jason’s back from Mexico and sat in first class for the first time - was it all it’s cracked up to be? Then he’s joined by Dave Schwartz who has his own first class story, plus they talk Twins, Vikings training camp and… Vixen?

Dave Schwartz joins the show for his regular Monday sports talk. Will the Twins add at the deadline? How big was the Lynx performance in the All Star Game? And can the Vikings take a page from the Vixen?

Jason talks more about his trip to Mexico including flying in First Class for the first time. Was the experience all it's cracked up to be?

Monday 4pm Hour: Jason talks about Edina saying no to a bike lane plan. Has the push for bikers over cars gone too far? Then Dan Cook shares a "Monday Message" on political endorsements and why it's important for the church to stay away.

A lawsuit is seeking to allow churches to endorse political candidates while maintaining their tax-exempt status as non-profits. Usually the argument around that is a civil one. But producer Dan Cook (who's also a pastor) thinks there should be a spiritual discussion as well, and you might be surprised where he lands.

Edina has said no to a new bike lane plan. Jason wonders if this is part of a backlash against the push for a bike friendly Twin Cities metro area. Have we gone too far?

Monday 3pm Hour: Jason talks about his trip to Mexico - specifically one tourist area known for haggling between customers and service providers. Turns out Instagram commenters thought that made him look like a cheap, ugly American. Do you agree? Then Jason's joined by Blois Olson from The Daily Agenda to talk about the DFL primary for US Senate and the angry tone it's taken - will that cost Democrats?

There was another debate this morning between Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and Rep. Angie Craig as they vie for the DFL spot on the ballot for US Senate. And the tone was as angry as it's been all campaign. Will the DFL risk losing that seat given the tone of the campaign? Jason talks with Blois Olson from the Daily Agenda.

Is it wrong to haggle with businesses on trips to places like Mexico? Jason read that it was part of the culture where he was headed. But when he posted a video to Instagram about it, the commenters were... peeved. Who's in the right?

In this episode, we look into Vance Boelter's sentencing as well as recent legal action and efforts by law enforcement to cut down on crime.
