Lily talks with Alex M. from east Texas. Initially using Kratom in 2022 to boost afternoon productivity while juggling church ministry and a web design side hustle as a new father, Alex quickly escalated from one daily dose of powder to taking high-dose mitragynine extract tablets four times a day over three years. He hid the extent of his use from his wife. His turning point came about a month before a planned Disney World trip, when he realized he couldn't enjoy the "happiest place on earth" without the drug in his system, prompting him to confess to his wife and quit cold turkey.
