Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors compose a class of prescription medicines that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration to lower blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes and has also been found to lower cardiovascular risk. Additionally, the ACC first presented information about blood pressure lowering from SPRINT (Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial) when it was first presented at the American Heart Association meeting in 2015.
