Masterminds. Y’all have heard this term thrown around the online space for a while now. If you’ve been in my network for any length of time now, you’ve heard me talk about the Legacy Mastermind. And you’ve been on the hunt for something in 2020 and so you’ve considered a mastermind, what it could do for you and with you, and you’re just not sure if it's the right fit for you right now.

So today I want to talk more about what a mastermind is, why they exist, and why it may or may not be a smart move for you and your business.

And now I’m recording this on the heels of our final Legacy Mastermind retreat this year. I was able to sit down face to face with some members of the Legacy Mastermind to reflect on this past year, plan for what’s to come in 2020, and to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished in 2019. It was super fun, ridiculously impactful, and it’s lit a new fire inside of me that I would say wasn’t missing, but maybe one that I’ve pushed aside for a little while.

So buckle up, today’s episode is going to be super juicy and you’re going to want to really dig deep and ask yourself some of the questions I’m going to ask you. And if it triggers you, or makes you feel uncomfortable, or maybe like I’m talking directly to you, you should listen to those internal nudges. Ashley Kaplan is a strategic WordPress designer who creates gorgeous and profitable websites for her clients. She is passionate about working with the female entrepreneur who is ready to up-level her website to represent the success she’s seen in her business. Ashley also teaches new entrepreneurs how to create their own customized websites through her signature online course, The Worry-free WordPress Academy.

Ashley was able to leave her corporate job to pursue full-time entrepreneurship less than one year after launching her web design “side gig.” Having grown up on a small beef farm with working parents, Ashley never imagined all of the freedom that could come with online entrepreneurship. She is dedicated to educating women on the endless possibilities that owning your own business can bring. When she’s not sitting behind her computer, she loves traveling with her husband, eating and drinking locally wherever she goes, playing with her dogs, or reading.

The two seem very unrelated but Ashley’s desire for wanting more freedom to enjoy her life with her husband lead her down the rabbit hole of becoming a website developer, and then a website designer.

For Ashely, personal development and investing in herself has facilitated her leaving corporate and creating and scaling her web design business in less than 12 months.

A big takeaway that Ashley leaves us with is about outsourcing (which she has said repeatedly is the key to her business’ massive growth over the past 12 months): If you know that you need to outsource, start with the thing that stresses you out the most.

Ashley has really had to work at being present with her family, while she builds and scales her business.  By establishing strict boundaries and limits it has allowed her to not only preserve her brain space, but to let her family know that her business does not rule their lives.

Y’all know I love goal setting, I love systems and automation, I love business models and productivity, but time and time again I see a HUGE gap in the coaching industry.

And really it’s two things:
(1) The actual goal setting process
(2) AND the self-accountability to those goals that you set

And it’s not that your goals or bad or you have bad intentions when you set them, it’s that for so many of us we don’t understand what it actually takes to accomplish those goals. We know on a superficial level, as in I need to sell 10 spots in my course to create my first $10K month, but that’s it. Oftentimes we don’t go deeper. And I see it in myself, I see it in my clients, and so I figure if this is something I’m seeing as often as I see it, it needs to be addressed.

So today I want to talk about goal setting and holding yourself to those goals and what self-accountabiltiy actually looks like.

Jessa’s biggest takeaway from the Legacy Mastermind is that the community is priceless. At the end of the day it’s the relationships that she has developed through the Mastermind that matter the most and the strong bonds that she’s formed with women who have truly had her back during some of her most challenging times, but have also encouraged her and helped her to move forward in even bigger ways.

In today’s podcast episode I’m talking about the thing that no one wants to talk about.

It’s every entrepreneur’s most hated thing.

We avoid it like the plague.

We do everything in our power to make sure it doesn’t happen in our business.

And yet, is unavoidable, no matter how much prep, advice, coaching, and/or experience you have.

And that thing is FAILURE.

Let’s just call it like it is, failure SUCKS. I wish I could tell you that when you get to a certain point or level in your business you become immune to failure. But unfortunately that’s simply not true.
Granted, failure looks and feels different depending on what stage you are at in your business, but nonetheless it happens and we MUST learn how to not only cope with it, but also harness the power of it.

Bottom line: failure happens. And pretending that it doesn’t, doesn’t serve you, your business, your clients, or your future clients.

It’s how we move through our failure that determines what will happen next. And it’s all a matter of choice. CHOOSING to move on, or CHOOSING to let it consume you, will define you, in an amazing way, or in the worst way possible. Either way, it’s a choice that you make and I really want to hone in on that. You get to choose your “what’s next?” So, what will you choose?

In this episode I’ll walk through some strategies to not only acknowledge your failure to but to help you move through your experience.

The ever elusive 6-figure business. Time and time again my audience tells me that when they hit 6-figures everything will change for them. For most women in online business creating a 6-figure business is the gateway for so much more for them, their families, their communities, and their lives. It’s the way to start to create freedom, space, and a true legacy.

But time and time again I hear women say they fall short of that goal over and over again. So what gives?

As a social media VA turned Facebook ad and sales funnel strategist, Brandi Mowles has grown her income from $0 to 6-figures in just 11 months. When you peel back the layers for service-based providers the true revenue producing activities are: marketing, discovery calls, and client work. By focusing on those tasks it has helped her to scale quickly and intentionally.

You don’t have to choose between being a mom and having a successful business, you can have BOTH.

When we can actually see what’s going right, is when we can start to do more of it!

It's effective, yes; and gets results, yes; but it's far from perfect.
