Emotional Fragrance Design With Scott Moroschan

Listen Later

This week on the show Karen is joined by perfumer Scott Moroschan. Scott had an unconventional start in the perfume industry but has now achieved great success and has branched out as an artist and creative entrepreneur. In this discussion with Karen he shares his insights into the world of perfume making, his techniques and tools and some of his unique methods of creating.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Scott always dreamt of having a creative career, but due to peer pressure ended up working as a chemist. He discusses his journey and the challenges he faced in finding his place as a perfumer.
  • Despite his success in the perfume industry, Scott does not consider himself a perfumer. He looks at himself as a ‘creator’ which he says gives him more freedom in his work.
  • Scott is currently writing a book. He talks about his unique process of sharing the rough draft with his subscribers every two weeks and how the feedback and reactions he receives is helping him to shape the text.
  • Scott talks about his approach to creating scents, which he calls “Emotional Fragrance Design”. He talks in detail about his methods and approach to perfumery and shares some invaluable tips.
