"If Tipperary start the way the did against Galway they could be out of sight of Mayo by half-time," warned David Brady on this week's Throw-In podcast. "Mayo do well against the bigger teams against the likes of Dublin, Tyrone, Kerry, but against the smaller teams they struggle. Mayo love being the underdogs and if experience has taught them anything it's not to let Tipperary get off to a good start. The name Tipperary should be obliterated from the Mayo mindset.”
Former Mayo footballer, David Brady, joined INM GAA correspondents, Frank Roche, Donnchadh Boyle and Conor McKeon on Independent.ie’s Championship podcast as they looked ahead to the All Ireland football semi final between Mayo and Tipperary.
Despite his caution, Brady and the rest of the panel still believe that Mayo’s firepower and experience will see them reach the final and have another tilt at their Holy Grail in 2016.
Also on the show, Roy Curtis and Martin Breheny went head-to-head arguing whether this has been one of the worst football championships in recent years. 2016 v 2010 anyone?
And Liam Glynn from BoyleSports was on hand to give some value bets from the Mayo v Tipp clash. For the weekly charity bet, at 7/2, he’s going with Andy Moran to score a goal in the game (anytime), whilst the Throw-In team are going with a 6/1 bet on Cillian O’Connor to be the first goalscorer.
