Hey ADHDer!
On this episode we are chatting with a listener just like you! Amanda Keener walks us through her later in life diagnosis, what it's like to be the wife of an ADHDer, and her favorite dopamine filling activities.
Amanda's Bio:
I'm a 37 year old twin mama to 8 year old girls. I currently work as a virtual assistant/project manager and have multiple side hustles to go along with it. I have been with my husband for 15 years and really just enjoy being together with my family and friends.
I see myself as a visionary and optimist yet I've just really felt something was not right with me. I can never manage to be the person I want to be and fall short in a lot of areas. My memory has always struggled, I am the queen of procrastination, late to (almost) everything, messy and disorganized, and generally refer to myself as a hot mess. Everything has always felt like chaos and I just have never understood how people have even a fraction of their life together. All of this was multiplied by having children. I've been trying to "fix" me my entire life through consuming all things personal development & self-help.
It wasn't until this year (2022) when I fell in to the rabbit hole of ADHD and had never identified with ANYTHING as strongly as I did with it. I decided to seek a diagnosis and it was clear to my psychiatrist that I was indeed ADHD. Now I'm just on a journey of self-awareness and learning how to be the best me while trying to cope with the fact that I will always have limitations.
