*Please read the Trigger Warning below before listening* In this episode ADHDAF+ Charity Trustee Abigail Agyei-Jones returns to discuss Intersectionality at a very important time.
October in the UK is a heavy, powerful, and deeply meaningful month in our calendar. Not only is it ADHDAF Day, but it’s also ADHD Awareness Month (themed "A Community of Support"), Black History Month (themed "Honouring Our Communities"), Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Menopause Awareness Month; it also includes International Lesbian and Coming Out Day and on 23rd October it's the FIFTH Annual #ADHDAFDay
In this episode, I am joined by senior policy advisor, Neurodiversity advocate, TedX Speaker, and newly appointed ADHDAF+ Trustee, Abigail Agyei Jones MBE, to unpick the vital concept of intersectionality. We dive into how systemic gatekeeping, late diagnoses, hormonal shifts, and racial biases disproportionately impact Black neurodivergent women, and how we build radical community care in response.

She is a columnist for The National and works within Scotland’s autism sector, drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience to advocate for the rights of neurodivergent people. ADHD Tax refers to the financial, mental, and physical costs incurred as a result of living with ADHD. Driven by Executive Function Gaps; ADHD traits like poor working memory, impulsivity, difficulty prioritising, and valuing immediate rewards over delayed ones; create a gap between how your brain works and how societal financial systems expect it to work.
Helping me tackle this taxing topic is the wonderful Wealth Coach Sara Jane Maxwell (who I'm lucky enough to be in Lu in Lu Land's Self Love Unleashed Crew with!) Sara help clients claim their financial power and move forward with confidence.
I'm so grateful to Sara for sharing her pearls of wisdom in this chinwag and for joining me at our first Live Event as a Charity: ADHD Easy Target on Sunday 6th September at The National Trust's Nostell in Wakefield.
We hope you find this chat helpful and that you can join the conversation at one of the 13 ADHDAF+ Charity free in-person ADHD Peer Support groups in September on ADHD Tax.
(You can watch the video for this episode on Spotify)
ENORMOUS THANKS to Sara Jane, to you for listening and to all attending the event which is free thanks to The National Trust and The National Lottery Community Fund.
Rant Warning: This episode's last ten minutes is me ranting about a certain mockumentary!
Trigger Warning: contains swearing, gallows humour(!), LOUD laughter and mentions of grief, death, debt, unemployment, ableism, exploitation and the tragic loss of Jason Arday
If you are struggling, lo siento. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Please reach out for help HERE

ADHD Titbits from the incredible Camp VC goers; and a Live Podcast with Lu in Lu Land (40mins in) on Susie - her Self Love Revolution Bus... plus FREE in-person ADHD Peer Support Groups from the Charity this podcast inspired and informs AND a very special discount code!
Shame eradication, ADHD information, validation, hacks, lols and a few tears... shared in a beautiful valley in Llangollen, Wales at the 10th anniversary of this very special festival... all day long on the (leopard print) chaise longue!
(You can watch the video to take in the gorgeous scenery on Spotify)
ENORMOUS THANKS to Camp VC and all of the LEGENDS who contributed to this very special episode recorded in a stunning setting at a magical event!

From the Media, to the Workplace - even in our homes and social spaces; Healthcare, Finances, Dating, Addiction, and more... the target isn't something we're creating; it’s something society places on us through ableism and exploitation.
It’s time to remove the target TOGETHER at this EMPOWERING, Educational and Entertaining Event!
You are invited to the pilot of a ADHD Easy Target on Sunday 6th September 2026, from 10am - 5pm at Nostell, West Yorkshire...
Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund and The National Trust - this event is FREE! But there are limited tickets available - so grab yours HERE
ADHDAF+ Charity was inspired by the connection and empowerment I witnessed at the three unique live tours of this podcast. I'm so excited for our first live event as a charity!
If you can't make this first one, there will be more - but not for nearly a year - and this first one will shape how all the others run; so I hope you can come along to this gorgeous location for a full day of speakers, workshops, craft, dancing, yoga and more!
Including very special guests: Dr Helen Wall, Lu in Lu Land and many more TBA...full lineup coming soon and full details and tickets HERE
